Sounds like you bought the right bike! I was thinking if the guy before you put 2" risers on odds are he would have had to replace the front break cable already. I know with the 1" riser I put on mine I had to replace the the clutch and front break line for something longer. Went with Galfer steel braided break lines as well as new high performance pads and the breaking is much more responsive.

The brakes on the GTR are Nissin with a big master cylinder...the Tokico and antique master of the Busa were never going to be as sharp....they are very capable though, odds on with those miles its still on the factory pads...try another brand or just new ones.

Always liked the GTR but apart from following Philip McCallen on his I've yet to see anyone get Busa levels of handling.
I too think you've made a good choice and come service times you'll see how straight forward Suzuki have made things for home mechanics compared to Kwak.
