25 Anniversary edition

Kawasaki is bringing the GPZ900 back....see it at 11:11

The motor looks just like the one in my RS. Same as the regular Z900 too with probably different cams and tune though. Mine is 948cc but is called a Z900RS for retro sport, similar to the original Z1 which was 903ccs. Retro is in apparently.

Exactly....it will be based on your chassis I'm sure...

Same as the latest Katana is based on the GSX bikes....

Still looks cool though.

I'm confused about where the cutoff is between digital fuel manipulation and the slipper clutch. The clutch won't let any serious engine braking happen anyway, right?

I know that on my 1st gen when the stock slipper clutch was still present, it would just work to prevent the rear tire from locking up and skidding if I grabbed a couple quick downshifts. There was still plenty of engine braking.

My 3rd gen is still under 1000 miles, so I'm still getting used to it. It seems to have decent engine braking with the system turned off. Typically if you are riding fast you don't want a lot of engine braking potentially upsetting the chassis. Of course the 'Busa is not the ideal roadracing track bike. Although it does surprisingly well for what it is.

My more roadracing focused bikes (2 S1000RR's and a Ducati Panigale V4) seem to have less engine braking than the 3rd gen with the system turned off.

I have hated every bike that came after the Hans Muth design. All far too conservative and ugly. SUCH a cool name. It deserves better. Put the original body work in a blender with the stratosphere, spend the money for a new dedicated frame supporting the cool new body work, make everything is lightweight as possible and wrap it around the 750 engine, and you would have a new Katana that really boosted your brand name.

OH Mommmy I would buy one of these:
1300 Katana

I didn't mind my '85 bike....

But the name Katana hasn't meant cutting edge after the original...

The latest edition isn't too bad but everything since '85 certainly wasn't worthy of the Katana moniker....(in my opinion).
