Ok, dont know if this helps anyone, but I have been playing with the whole gas milage thing on all of my vehicles, including the Busa this morning.

for me, in my cars and on my Busa it seems about 61 to 62mph is my max speed for best fuel economy

For the busa, when I was riding into work today, if I sat straight up I could do 55mph and get 50mpg.

However anything over 55mph sitting up my mpg would start to drop.

I then tucked behind my double bubble and was able to get to 62mph and maintain 50mpg.

While I probably looked pretty sillY wearing full armor gear (pants, boots, gloves, jacket, helmet) and riding a hayabusa at 62mph tucked. it is the only way I can fight back and stick my fricken nose at oil prices.

I am determined to squeeze every mile out of every gallon I have and if I look silly doing it, oh well.

On another note, changing my driving habbits on my van, I have gone from avergaing about 22mpg to about 30mpg just by keeping it under 65 on the freeway.

Just thought I would share

Every 5th day to work I just plan on bucking up the $15-$17 bones to filler up, I still pretty much get the same amount of miles no matter how I am with the throttle, except WFO of course.

Thats way better than most cage drivers will ever see. 40ish-50 MPG, thats as good as those little smart cars.

is that 55 on the SPEEDO or REAL 55. my stocker lies - 65 indicated = 55 real

Is that why everyone was flipping me off and screaming at me!!!

yeah it was the speedo. I think tomorrow I will take my GPS and check it out.

I think my speedo is pretty accurate at 60 however

i've been checking my gauge and got 36.8 normal riding through streets and highway.

4-1 micron, block offs, pcIII, and tre

It's times like during this gas crisis that I love jamming in my parents face that I have a motorcycle.. it's something that was forbidden until I moved out from under their roof.

I dont blame you. The only time I push 70 in a cage is the company ride. Why should I rush to work?

I have been driving my truck under the speed limit, trying not to hit brake, and accelerating lightly and have increased my gas mileage by 30%. On the bike, been shifting early and staying under 3,500 rpms and get over 50mpg on stock bike. Mine seems to get 50mpg at around 70mph indicated???

I'll be honest. I still hammer my car, and bike. I totally get people wanted to stretch it, but the way I enjoy my riding and driving is spirited. I'll be darned if *I* ALLOW greedy Saudi's and Oil companies to remove an important part of my enjoyment in life. That said, I have NEVER driven anything larger than a Civic for an auto for 27 years [except the vette but that boat was replaced quickly]

I,m with ya Thrash, been riden the busa to work a lot more lately, avg 43 mpg. Cost me 4.00 a day to ride, and 8.00 dollars a day to drive.

Mine dropped down to 32 avg combined when i went to my 16/42 sprocket setup. It was up around 38-42 w/ Micron 4 into 1, block offs, pc3, smart tre, air box mod, and a K&N filter. But hey, it's more fun now, and I still get better mileage than most cages...
