Just curious here..not trying to start a war. Do you think there should be age limits for motorcycles based on engine size?

No way no how. Ive seen 10/11 years old that can ride circles arount most on the site. Ive also seen 30-50 years olds that shouldnt be in a car, let alone riding a busa.

NO LAW ever Protected Anybody.

Want Laws go to another Land and enjoy............................................................ this is The Land Of The FREE & Home of the Brave...................

Anyone getting their Bike licence here in Australia for the first time whether they are 17 or 70 are restricted to 250cc for 12 Months this is their way to help curb the rising Motorcycle toll. This is always debated whenever there is a spate of motorcycle accidents. The main issue among riders is how do you expect a 110kg plus rider ride such a small bike, nobody from the Government can give a plausible answer:moon:

Restricting bike's CC size by age won't stop someone from getting in too deep. That Ninja 250 is quite a powerful bike for a 1/4 liter. I think what the Aussies got going is a step in the right direction, maybe some consideration for some extra CCs or Hp for riders with more ass to haul.

There will always be someone or a group of someones that don't fit or think they don't fit in that "box" that laws create, but stats don't lie. Natural selection usually takes care of them and makes for more stats.

It should be by a equation:
The cube root of your age times Pi times how many vehicles that you have owned divided by the tickets you have received plus 7 if you were adopted to the 5th power.

In other words: no there should not be a limit based on age.

tiered licensing will not protect you from a soccer mom, doing her make-up, while talking on the phone changing lane w/o a blinker on morning commute to work...

im only 19 and the busa is my only streetbike ive ever owned:thumbsup:. i think of u can ride it then more power to you

Puberty = Testosterone causing havoc in the emotional system = higher probability of "brain farts".

Teens in a Busa will make Darwin's law busy.

18 years of age is a legal adult. You "should" have full rights at that age. I tend to find the drinking ages to be rather silly considering that many teens start drinking at 16 or younger anyway. I'm a firm believer that if you are old enough to fight for our country, you should be given every right that is afford to other citizens. Restricting anyone 18 and above for anything borders on a violation of civil rights.

can not legislate stupidity out of the system or maturity... the insurance companies will give you the low down... force insurance, you keep most of the idiots off the road..

just because you're young dosnt mean you're careless
no but it usually means you do not have enough experience to keep your own tail out of trouble.. Especially today where all the "soccer mom kids" are running wild... never had to wipe their own noses and now they are driving cars... egads man....

Is it worth some kids life to find out you can only hold the throttle WFO for 4 seconds down this street and not 4.3 seconds?

stupid or not, dead kids are a drag..

i dont think restrictions should be in place, but with that being said when I was 17, I knew way more people getting hurt, then I do now, and I know way more riders now....bike technology and knowledge have come really far, maybe a mandatory 40 hour course in safety and 1st aid with plenty of accident scene pics would be better suited

just because you're young dosnt mean you're careless

This statement is very true, teenagers may not be as careless...but they are much less experienced. I can tell you from experience that I was much more careless at 18 years old than I am now (my poor mother). Does that mean every teenager is, NO. But never the less, they are still less experienced. If you go to a road race weekend, they do not start you out in the advanced classes...they start you in the beginner class. My father had me started on bikes at age 3. There are some cases where you might have the experience by the time you are old enough to have a drivers license, but I see more and more kids starting out on liter bikes and larger and come in a week later after being air lifted to the hospital. My thoughts are, if you can pass the appropriate tests on a Busa, then maybe you can ride it...but I think anyone no matter how old should be given a class or have to provide some sort of experience in the field before going out and trying to live to see the next day on a bike that large when they have never rode a bike before in their life.
