All of California ~ is on F I R E again *

Those water resivors are mainly filled by melting snow run-off from further north in the state...the same flow Newsom has been routing directly into the ocean instead for years now...
Population control, Smart Cities, and restructuring of areas in general.
Not that the governments would ever 'help' natural disasters for their own future plans...that's just conspiracy nonsense.

For some time now I’ve read that the guv was routing fresh water to the ocean but I’ve seen no proof of that. First, why would he do that? Second, how would he do that?

From the LA Times for what that's worth....

I've found it hard to find any unbiased information on this...

Everything I've looked at caters to each side of the situation....what we need is a good, strong, unbiased journalist like we used to have.

Rerouting snow melt to the ocean vs to rivers or man-made concrete routes to resivors further south, has actually been a contraversial subject since even before Newsom, and there was alot of public info and videos on it...now conviniently scrubbed from most of the internet, along with alot of other info on many subjects.

It's done the same way man-made routes carry it to the resivors.
The why is stated above, but not belivable if you think that the governments work for the people, with the citizens best interests in mind.
If that were so we wouldn't have half the problems that we do now.
We can only blame government incompetance so much...

Regardless, it's a sad thing to see these people lose everything.....

Does this exact same area get annual wildfires of this magnitude?

If so, an investigation will most likely be forthcoming and heads will roll....

As usual.....there is a lot of conjecture by authorities before an investigation is launched and findings are shown...
The winds always come through. They have a No Mans land they maintained in the hills above all these areas. That was managed to allow for a built in barrier for the fires they couldn't keep burning past. All of southern Cal was built through the mountains. They all were susceptible to fire given the right circumstances.

There is plenty of history of Ca brush fires that has been seen for years.

Are the winds a factor? Yes. It's picking up embers and carrying them in unexpected ways. The point is, they are picking up embers. That's the underlying problem. You eliminate the ember source.

I guess building in these areas are like building in a flood plain......the people know about it but hope it never happens to them...

Here are some "why" questions to ponder...

Why can't the California Insurance Commission offer tax incentives to the insurance companies who are sure to be impacted by the cost of rebuilding entire communities after these fires die out?
Why did the mayor of LA reduce the LAFD budget by $17M even though her handpicked fire chief begged her not to?
Why were 7 new water storage programs approved for $2.7B for CA in 2014 but not one was ever built due to litigation?
Why did LAFD boast about having 70% DEI hires putting skin color/gender, etc ahead of merit and ability?
Why hasn't CA engaged in regular removal of brush and undergrowth in forests, and put in fire breaks?

Progressive governance at it's worst!

Lastly, here's a clip of Newsom boasting about destroying 4 dams to restore watersheds. These dams provided hydroelectric power, recreation and WATER RETENTION. He starts at about 3:10

Why lay down salt that is so corrosive to vehicles??
Why not fine gravel to give grip on top of the ice?
That is what we do here in NZ in frozen road areas.
Seems to work just fine.
That's a very good question.....they lay salt mixed with sand here....and use a liquid salt brine on the hiways....

When I was in Alberta, they don't salt and there are hundreds of accidents as the roads are like skating rinks....not to mention that seeing a vehicle without a cracked windshield is a rarity....their insurance doesn't even cover replacing the windshield.

Some time ago my State Farm Agent and I got into a lengthy convo. State Farm also has a Wealth Management leg to its business. That is how we ended up in the convo.

I said Tim, how can know your returns to me? You could have a huge event that you pay out billions. And so much for my return.

Nope. We have pulled out of every risk market over the past few years. At that time there were other fires in Ca burning. They had already pulled out by then. And the Florida hurricane market they were out of. Etc etc etc.

Tom we don't have exposure to anything with a B attached to a cost. Unless there is like a nuclear event type thing.

I asked how and why. He specifically said, if Fla hasn't mitigated hurricane losses we are out. California doesn't mitigate, we are out. Etc. Floods haven't been covered since Katrina.

They saw chyt like this coming. At that time like I said, Ca had other fires going on. They knew Ca was vulnerable to them before they occured.

Yeah, save the fish, then the fisheries come in and scoop them all up for cat food. I read an article the other week about dolphins in the Med starving because of the Italian sardine industry.
A third of the bottle-nose dolphins swimming off Israel’s Mediterranean coast are too thin, apparently due to a lack of food from over-fishing, a researcher said today.

Other dolphins at the Western end are getting fouled in the huge nets as they go after the bait-fish. Fishing is one of those industries that governments give large subsidies too and leave alone to rape the seas. "You can tell I don't eat a lot of sea food"
