I got this thread completely wrong I thought it was about old stories.
I must be getting old.

I recently bought a fairly large rehab house project. I used to do this exclusively, but that was coming up on 10 year ago now since my last one. So its been awhile. I at first thought I'm just outta shape as its a fairly physical thing to destroy a house and rebuild it.
And there are current roofing codes that I am not familiar with so I hired a local young roofer to "consult" for me on the roof job. So me and the kid are talking about the job and he says I'll have them place the shingles every 12 feet when they deliver. A bit perplexed, I thought this was odd. I said....Umm I don't mean to question you here, but wouldn't it be easier to deliver them all on pallets, instead of every 12 feet? He looked at me just as perplexed. He said, um a pallet would cave your roof in. Now I am even more perplexed. I said What the heck are you talking about? He then explained that nowadays, as in like as long as he has been roofing, they place the shingles on the roof with a machine that conveys them up on a belt.
"BRILLIANT"
Now I don't have to haul shingles up by hand anymore, or pay a kid or a group of illegals to do it.
Plus he shows me his new fangled wizz bang battery operated roofing gun. 48Volts, lightweight, goes like stink for a half a day on a single charge zipping off the nailing like a chain gun now.
It weighs like nothing compared to dragging those air powered hand cannons around.
Add to that and I spent a day digging stumps out of the yard after cutting back the junk tress in the yard. Rented a backhoe but it still was a LOT of work. I get all cleaned up at the end of the day.
My g/f decides she feels frisky that evening.
I was like......You're kidding right?
*sigh*.

Saturday my 5 year old challenges me to a foot race. I'm out of shape with 2 bad knees but I've never NOT been able to catch him if I wanted/needed to. I'm afraid that may be changing cause I really had to hustle to keep up and wore out way before he did. Must be getting old...

If she knew how to do most of the work..........I'd let her.
I did let her run the backhoe for a bit. While I was down hacking roots away from the foundation.
I think that is what made her frisky......just sayin.

OK three things:
1. Once I'm on the bike I feel like I'm a kid again, but it's getting harder and harder to get up and pull all that gear on.
2. I don't take chances anymore. I ride fast but extremely safe. I also find myself lecturing young riders!
3. I have found myself sitting on cruisers several times in cycle shops thinking: "Humm, yeah I could rock this..."
Its not so much that I'm getting old, it's that I'm becoming a boring old person!

Unexpected "getting old" story - there's a local sport bike group I've been sort of following on FB for over a year now, and they've always seemed pretty cool, seem to be responsible, etc. I've never gotten to ride with 'em yet, simply because "local" to me means their meet up spot is nearly 2 hours away from where I live. But, they've been on my list of "one day" for a while now...
Then, last night, I see a bunch of vids posted up by a few in the group, maybe some newbs, not sure - street racing (one's a Busa), and all of the sudden I'm thinking "eh, never mind, I don't care to go ride with 'em now" Now, maybe they were on an abandoned stretch of road somewhere, so perhaps I shouldn't judge, but maybe I'm just getting old. All I kept thinking was "someone's going to get hurt" and "this sure is stupid"
