android owners post up!

I have a black berry that I use to tether my comp. and it sucks. I cant watch any vid's without it taking three times as long. Its like I have dial up speed. Does anyone use the droid to do this with? If so how does it work? I need a change so I can enjoy some of the vid's you guys post. O i have a MacBook if that matters

I've used mine to tether, there's apps you have to download(free) easy tether and pda net are a couple, the speeds are pretty good to.

Nexus one here - digging it since Jan. Running Cyanogen 6 rc3 (Froyo - 2.2)

Must have apps:

Slacker Radio (Free)
Apps Organizer (Free)
Assistant Free (Free) - Checks all sorts of accounts in real time (Bank, NetFlix, Cell Provider, etc etc)
Locale ($10) - Change phone settings based on location or other conditions (tons of plugins to extend functionality)
SlideIt (Free) - Swipe keyboard
Bump or Hoccer (Free) - transfer files to another "bumper" using WiFi/3G via GPS
Chrome to Phone (Free) - Send a link from your Chrome Browser right to your Android device
eBuddy (Free) - the Trillian of Android IMs
GPS Speedo / MyTracks (Free) - both are great
OurGroceries (Free) - Share digital grocery lists in real time (You can watch items get checked off the list from the house, while she's shopping - or add something you forgot without having to call her - brilliant)
Shazam (Free)
ShopSavvy (Free) - Barcode scanner with price comparing based on GPS and/or internet
SoundHound (Free-ish) - similar to Shazam but possibly better
SportsTracker (Free) - Workout tracker with GPS route logging and estimated calories burned

Do you use the droid? If so which one? When you tethered could you watch things on you tube and so on? I have a MacBook if it matters. I was talking with Verizon yesterday and they were checking my speed with my Black Berry 9530 and was told all I have is about the same as dial up. I have been with Verizon for about 20 years now and when I got my phone I was promised that I could do this (Watch Vids while teathering). It takes forever for me to watch a 2 min vid and it sucks. I told them that I was holding up my end of the contract of paying 160 bucks a month and I was not getting what I was promised. They pretty much said to bad and that they would give me a break on an Android 2 if I wanted it. I have only had my phone for 7 months and have complained the whole time about it with no results. I told them that I was going to buy out of my contract as soon as I found something that would work for me and that they could stick it. So now I am looking for a good phone and a good company. Any ideas?

I got mine last Christmas and still dont know how to use it ... :stoopid:

I have the Samsung Epic.. and it is an absolute BEAST of a phone. It does everything. You can tether it, or use it as a wireless hotspot for up to 5 devices. With the screen as nice as it is, you won't even need to bother watching those vids on something other than the phone though.

Plan is 70 bucks a month for unlimited data.
Reasonable power consumption. (I've played music on it for 6+ hours straight as long as the screen is off I'm still way over half battery)
Easy to use well laid out interface.
Amazing AMOLED screen.
4G speeds where available.
Full browser, using full versions of the site is often soo much better than mobile versions.
Its fast fast fast fast. It's like the Hayabusa of smart phones.
Slide out, or virtual keyboard.
Decent camera (though not as nice as the EVO's) will take awesome panorama shots.

I don't think I can be happier with it, and since the newness hasn't wore off yet, I don't think my girlfriend could be unhappier with it, since I can't put it down. haha
