I'M NOT AN ELECTRITION BY ANY MEANS, BUT BET IT'S ON A THREE WAY/FOUR WAY SWITCH ELSEWHERE AT ENTRANCE OF THE ROOM AND SOMEONE TURNED IT OFF, THE OUTLETS LIKE THIS USUALLY HAD NO CEILING LIGHT AND USED THE WALL OUTLETS FOR LAMPS, WALAA!!(I HOPE)
 
hahah a stupid mouse chewed through a wire in my basement in the ceiling all fixed lol damn mouse.
 
wow glad you did not have a fire.... you should feel better about your troubleshooting anyway

You have a proximity tester and there is power into and out of the breaker. (breakers can fail)
There is no possible way you missed a GFI behind a piece of furniture, under a sink, in the attic?
I have an outlet in the attic. GFI's can go bad. While they are a safety feature, also a headache at times.
The answer is probably simple, just hidden very well.

I think it's a mouse too...
 
sounds like you might need new fuses or wall outlets replace one wall outlet then test it when you test the wiring in the rear of the outlet now do you get any power. but when you plug some thing in it does not work replace outlet
