Anyone use BT023's?

I put the BT023 on the rear of my busa last summer along with a BT016 front. I took a six day trip in August and when I returned I could see no visible wear. The 23 still looks very good waiting for spring!

It's also worthy of knee down play. Although it's not going to compete with the BT016 in any area of grip.

For a high mileage touring tire, I'd certainly give the 23 good Kudos!

Standard. You don't want the GT unless your passenger is a "BIGUN"! The GT is designed for the heavy touring class. Concours, BMW1200 etc.

I've got pirelli sc2 track tires on mine at the moment cuz for $80 set.. I couldnt go wrong. Last one i had on rear with just normal driving, nothing too crazy.. not a twisty lover.. got about 2500 miles out of rear.. Front had the BT056 on it when I got it in July 2010 with 6,652 miles and when I replaced it recently, bike has 10,215 miles.. Had the BTO16s on my cbr929rr and it handled good with them on it. The Hayabusa is strong bike..and will eat up tires..good luck...

I got just over 5000 miles (over 8000km ) on my Gen 1 riding on crappy Uk tarmac on my rear 023 (not Gt) and what a performer in all conditions. Even in horrendous wet weather the tyre just stayed planted into the surface.

I was running a supermax maxxis front tyre and had no issues with mix&match either but its time for both to be changed in which Ill be putting 023 front and back.

All comes down to how you use the power on the bike too, dropping down gears from high revs using the engine as brakes will obviously reduce tyre wear as well as giving it yee'ha's all over the place. Use the brakes for what there designed for!!! Be smooth on the throttle and check tyre pressures while the bikes warming up as part of your pre-flight check before going out.

Few variables all affect tyre wear and if you can get better control over each thing then you will get more longevity. As far as perfomance on any sports touring tyre available today it will outperform 99% of riders here anyway. The technology into them nowadays is awesome

Lamb uses the 023's on the rear. Terrific mileage and very stabile. Even did the trackday at the stampede last year with them on. However, the front is a bit vague and it does feel pushy or understeer on the mountain passes. Very dirtbike like. Lamb runs the 003's up front because we have very lil rain here in San Diego. If he had more weather, the 016 would be the choice. Bridgestone all the way. 8000 miles from the last rear and there was prolly more there

done a thousand miles on mine and there brilliant . in the wet there fantastic . i was advised to fit normal 023 on rear and the gt up front and i gotta say after the nice fast roads in france last week they get the thumbs up .

A couple of things guys, the BT 023 is not rcommended by Bridgestone in the UK for the busa.
Bridgestone Bikers Club
this could be a problem if your invovled in an accident.
My 99 Busa has BT 023's front and rear, it has ripped through the rear tyre in nearly 1500 miles, squared off and in need of a replacement. This is the road to work, not exactly a motorway cruise either

I spoke to a Bridgestone engineer last week about the 023's, which are Bridgestones biggest seller (sports-touring tyres that is). The engineer said that Bridgestone have given Ron Haslam race school 023's to use and test on there fleet of race bikes, and the results have been fantastic.

on a seperate matter -
He tried to sell me the 023's, but I mentioned the problems I had with my 021r's in the past, he mentioned that the 021's had a fault with permature wear rate on the front that caused 'stepping'. This would not happen with the new 023's.

I asked him why certain tyre choices are limited on the Hayabusa. He said that recommended tyres by manufacturers is only down to whether they have tested them, or can be bothered to test them.

I asked him if it was ok to fit a tyre not recommended for my Busa, regarding insurance claims etc in case of an accident. He added that in the UK there is no law that say's you cannot fit any tyre to your bike, so long as it is the right size and the correct rating.

He then tried to sell me the 023's; I told him that when my Storm 2's wear out I might try them.

Getting ready to upgrade suspension front and back, decided with 8000 miles on my Avon Storm tires which I was happy with other than the bad scalloping of the front tire. Thought would try out a set of Bridgestones so ordered BT016 for the front and BT023 for the rear yesterday. Do a lot of highway riding and not a lot of twisty, technical roads in my area.

"scalloping" <> what do you mean here?.. Running Storms myself and seeing / feeling flat spots every 3 or so inches on both sides off center (on the front only)
Thinking of going with the experts here and running the BT0 s' touring combo next set.
Think I'll stear clear of the Storms here on out.

I am experiencing exact same as you are describing with my Avon Storms hense ordering Bridgestone BT016 Front and BT023 for year.

Rock-N-Roll Brother!!

I'll be following your lead on that decision in the near future.... Researched nothing but positive results from that combo.

Sly who advised you to fit a GT on the front??

the place i have my tyres fitted the owner is a friend of the technical man at bridgestones . he call them and they advised the gt on the front of the busaand the zzr1400 or zx1400 . i had these tyres fitted a few weeks ago but was also advised the bt023 had been matched to the busa but was not yet in writing . my front stays planted real good with the gt

You got that spot on slydog, me rear 023 is fooked after 1500 miles, thought I might 5 or 6k, then I woke up

I am currently running BTO16 tire with a 190-55-17 rear and like the tires on my 08 Busa, but I am also looking for more useable miles per tire. I was wondering if anyone has tried the new BTO16 PRO tires yet for grip and mileage? Or another option may be a BTO16 PRO on the front and a BTO23 on the rear, any ideas. It would be great to find a set of tires that would wear out at about the same time. I always change both at the same time anyway. Thanks
