Holy crap, What kind of sliders did you have? They don't look like they did very well compared to what they are supposed to. Sorry to hear it and I would like to know more about what brand of slider and if you did anything different from the norm in the install of them.

That is what I was thinking, looks like some serious crappy sliders.

Youve never driven on gravel? Wow, yeah never lock up your brakes in gravel.

...i used the lockhart phillips cf sliders...kinda weird how they bent in...i wonder how they will fare in asphalt..i seriously do not want to find out...as for install..did it the same as anybody...

That is not good. I am glad I went with the Vortex now, or at least I think I am, as the LP CF ones are well thought of too but havn't heard any reports of anyone putting them to the test. Sorry hope all is well in the end though.

I feel they did what they're suppose too .  From the photo it appears his sliders  grab somthing and snapped, "so actually the sliders didnt just slide

"   Personally after a spill like this I'd just drill a hole in the remaining bolt and use an easy out to remove the rest of the bolt from the engine mount.

I've seen slider on bikes that have been slammed (bent) pretty far back from spills, which made it time consuming to remove from the engine mount.  So on that note  I'd rather have my slider break off like his instead of hassling around with cutting off a half bent (deformed)  slider plus cutting the bolt  because this will be bent as well.
Bottom line is, they did what they where suppose to do, decrease damage.  Check out the photos,Playaz.
It really doesnt matter which ones you get as long as they're not those cheezy  azz onez that mount to the fairing bolt. And if your frame slidaz catch a pot hole or a crevice in the asphalt they will bend and the outcome will probably look just like his. Believe me I know !

Glad youre OK! It would have been alot worse trust me on this without the sliders! NJ.

Another ringing endorsement of why every new street rider should spend some good saddle time on a dirt bike as well. Same lesson could be learned for much less money. Glad to see you were prepared with he sliders... could have been much worse without

I second dat, I also know.. Glad your ok.

Ouch, glad your ok. Looks like it was a great ride though. More pics if you have them...

Lightning Racing and Intuitive sliders are made out of a softer material then delrin...not way softer just softer so that it allows some flexing on impact. Delrin tends to crack and snap off. The bolt should be a grade 8.8 or there abouts...no way will it break before the slider does.

IMO there are only 2 brands that I trust, Lightning and Intuitive...MotoSliders as well but they dont make a Busa slider.

soory to hear about your bike just glad you're OK. One thing to remember about the sliders. It probably dug into the gravel and that is why it bent. If you had gone down on something harder I bet it would have held up much better. No doubt it did help prevent worse damage.
