Bad Dyno Numbers After Mods

The Yosh map sucks!!!!Period. Send me your email, i have a map for you to try. Runs a lil rich but great for Alabama heat.

I live in Salt Lake area, i just had my bike dyno'd and it was very low (i'm not going to say what shop it was) but with the mods i have it should be in the upper 160's to low 170's with over 100ft lbs, it was 143hp with 88ft lbs, i'm running really rich 11.2, smoothing was 5, I can't remember if it was SAE/STD. I'm going to get some VP MR9 (oxegenated fuel) and try one more time.

I just talked with the dyno guy. Here's what he said. They are using a very expensive DynoJet 250i. He said that his model is one of the first to enter the country and compensates for wind resistance, altitude, etc. It's a $50k machine and he claims that the last 4 busa's now - have all come out around 145hp after the dyno and mods.

He said that the bike came in at 130hp and left at 145hp and is flat lined. ( I don't know what that means.) Supposedly, the bike AF numbers are realy good now and he believes the busa is going to running at its peak. The rwhp is calculated with altitude in mind as well. I asked him why this shows so low compared to other dyno's. He said that this dyno simulates a true ride not just drum spinning. Without the resistance he added - it would have dyno'd in the 160's.

Hopefully I'll get some kind of slip I can post up. K all you dyno hounds... any input? I think I got my 15hp out of the mods. That's about right - right?

Thats all that matters. If you started a 130 and ended at 145 on the same dyno then the mods you added worked great. You can never compare numbers from two different dynos and really know if one bike has more power than the other. If anyone wants to compare two bikes they need to put them on the same dyno same day back to back.

Dino / Dyno Only good for a comparison B 4 and after work done! Had a trailered one down here during Bike week! Herley's were pullin 100+HP!! Needless to say he was always bizy!! A trailered Busa came in with just motor and maxed it out @ 300. Every one was happy. I got ocean front in Arizona cheap!

You went to the same shop i did, i didn't know he had the torque cell package (or whatever they call it know) i thought he just had the eddy current brake, he never explained all that to me

. Simulating wind resistance will make a big difference, I'm going to make another appointment for next Sat. around 11:00am, hope you can come out.

I'll be there at 11am to see you there. Glad to know someone else is working with this guy. He's really accomodating. I'm hoping he's as good at the dyno as he sounds. I just know anything about this stuff.

OK guys - got the bike back. here's the numbers after my street tune. highly disappointing.

Before tune: (with pipe, airbox mod, powercommander, race filter)
Run Type: RO
Run Conditions: 64.63 F, 25.26 in-Hg
Humidity: 28%
SAE: 1.18
full yosh system

Run type: RO
Run Conditions: 69.99 F, 25.21 in-Hg
Humidity: 21%
SAE: 1.19
Max Power - 145.58
full yosh system

The bike - pop's like crazy on deceleration. (Pair valve on)
I don't notice any boost at all. Just a smoother throttle.
It's nice and loud but this bike - doesn't put a grin on my face anymore.

It now sounds like I have a little ticking either from the valve train or header leak. It has 12k miles on it. It only happens under load - meaning - in gear on acceleration - not during idle or throttling just the idle.

Here is the pdf file of the printout. Can someone please shed some light on this?

Right now - I'm ready to sell and get something with some real hp.

PM with miles and lowest cash price you can do on it if your truly interested in selling . My Son's looking for a Busa .

(Rocketman @ Mar. 26 2007,17:37) I don't think the bike is very loud.  In fact, I'm sorry I got the Yosh - I think the Muzzy sounds way better.  This might be a problem.
I forgot to ask .

What did you do to make the Yosh louder since this page 1 post ?

Dyno's are simply a tool, no 2 are the same and experience of operator is important. Most important thing to tune for is AF mixture. Don't worry about the other numbers. Are you running good at the drag strip, that tells true performance. The dyno will burst a lot of bubbles but again it is simply a tool. Test on a dyno before mods to get a base line then after mods to see if they work, same dyno with simular conditions.

Is that number pre or post SAE correction?  It says smoothing but maybe something isnt setup correctly with the software or something?
rock.gif
If pre, then corrected is 166.0142 and 173.2402 which sounds more reasonable. Also maybe pulled in wrong gear?

Dude - I'm an idiot. Can you expound a little bit on this? I was wondering what SAE 3 and SAE 5 meant. Also - what does smoothing do?

I'll ask them tomorrow what gear they did the tests in.
