Bad Dyno Numbers After Mods

Ok - to all of you who responded through my whining - thanks a ton.

I took out the bike out yesterday for about an hour and will do the same today trying to really shake her down. It's not nearly as mushy as I was leading on.

I think that I was expecting some humongous OMG type - I can barely hold on - experience after the mods and the tuning.

The bike - although I still hear a noisy lifter, seems to be running well.

I have her all cleaned up and running pretty good. I am still hooked on busa. MtnMotor, all you guys that threw down info for me - thanks for mentoring. My apologies for being so stupid - on this stuff.

You guys absolutely rock. I have learned a ton this past few weeks thanks to you.

Rocketman,

I'd be interested in looking at your map and comparing it to mine. I'm running the same pipe and have a spare box modded with a BMC filter ready to drop on the bike. I almost have my data logger sorted out and plan on testing at the strip this month. After I get a baseline with my current map, I'll be swapping airboxes and try to refine my map. Then I will be trying oxygenated fuel.

FWIW, My bike made 153 on a Dynojet 250i SAE corrected. The 205i is a tough dyno but is gives very realistic numbers. The big thing is the use of it as a comparison of before and after. Don’t worry about comparing it to others.

I'll get the map for you tonight and send it on. I'm still trying to understand what SAE correction is. I'll get back to you this evening.

Thanks!

Thanks I'll PM you a email addy

SAE correction is supposed to put to make the reading the same regardless of altitude, humidity, temputure etc. I should put things on a level playing field. There is another correction method call STD that is sometimes used.

You should be able to get the run file from your dyno guy. You can download the WinPep viewer software from DynoJet and look at how the different correction factors work.

I'm meeting with the Dyno Guy today at 11am. I'll take a jump drive and have him copy it down for me.

I'm about to do the PCS Mod posted by Cookie and others to eliminate the backfiring. They said that I should not have to re-map but could just to make sure. (I think I'll wait for a few months.)

I'll let you know how it goes after I talk to cookie.

Rocketman, thanks for coming out today, we'll have to get together for a ride, we were talking after you left about Dyno Drags, if you know anyone that would be interested he said it would be $40.00 and you can ride your own bike on the Dyno for 2 pulls

and the winner gets their money back so let me know if your in.

Hey Jason - it was a blast meeting you guys down there. Helping me understand the world of dyno's was way cool of you. Your bike - way awesome. It was good to see how things work.

Just so everyone else knows, the guy that did our dyno work - did good. He's explained things to me a couple of times but I'm just an idiot. It takes a while to understand this stuff for me.

Anyway - the dyno drags - absolutely! I'm in. I'll be out of town the weekend of 4/14/07 - but after that I'm good till May.

I don't know how to adjust the idle. Since I couldn't get any of the right hose over the weekend, I plugged the hose coming from the bottom of the pump and I plugged the airbox where it originally was attached. It eliminated the backfire but smells rich and the idle dropped down to about 750rpm. Need to fix that.

I am going to plug it into the crankcase vent for that negative pressure and see how that runs for a while. If that doesn't do the trick - the whole thing is coming off.

Talk to you more later.

Happy Easter.

Lift the tank and look on the right side near where the two throttle cables run. You'll find the idle adjustment screw there.

Hook up your power commander to the a computer. With it running and at idle it should show 0% it might show 2% with the fast idle going. Adjust the fuel at 750, 1000, 1250. Take out about 15 units. Likely you'll have 0s in the boxes so put in -15. See if that cleans it up a bit.

It did on mine

I got the same results here in Denver, but I have felt the difference in the seat! The Factory Pro 997 is a good measure. Here is a link for locations for you:

I may actually be riding out that way this summer to visit my sister/brother-in-law. They live just south of SLC. Don't lose faith and I know you won't lose the mod fever!!
