But... after 1 1/2 months, you should have your cycle license by now. You've been taking a chance and you weren't so lucky.

So... you need to get your cycle license NOW! And make sure you have insurance.
+1 on what Pandemic sez.

Very important to have that endorsement (and for the folks who still don't know what it is.....IT'S ANOTHER WAY OF CALLING IT A MOTORCYCLE LICENSE. You wouldn't drive your cage around with no D.L. would ya).

It's easy and quick. Get your permit, then do one of the following a.) take the MSF. Easy, valuable and you get your certification and present it to your local DMV to get your endorsement, or (b.) practice up and take the DMV test. Cheaper than the MSF couse (in terms of money, not valuable information). Be able to do "the circle course" in both directions, manuever some cones and practice emergency braking. On the DMV off hours, you can ride to their course and practice so you get the feel.

Good luck.

De Ros,

Make sure you get your endorsement and bring it with you. I'm a Sergeant with a large California agency and I've seen a lot of court time. Bring all your documentation with you, plead "no contest" and ask for "deferred adjudication". This means they'll hold it over your head for a few years and as long as you stay clean, it will go away. A lawyer might help, but I've never lost a case to one, nor do I see other officers lose just because a lawyer shows up.

To the guy who said, "and cops wonder why people hate them". That's just about as ignorant statement as I've seen lately. Just because you get caught (finally) does not make us the bad guy. People like you and I meet because of what YOU did and not for any other reason. Man up and accept responsibility when you get nailed for being stupid on the road.

yeah I'm with gunslinger, if you can get them to defer, in texas its like 3 month probation (can't get any tickets) Me i'm screwed all the way around I have a CDL and in texas you can't take a defensive driving or deferred tickets hit me automatically, unless you have a good lawyer

but show the judge your responsibility go get license and have all documentation with you when you go imho

I said that as a poke and a joke because some cops can actually use good judgment when it comes to dealing with certain situations/people and don't... and they're not always consistent. As a cop, you should know that.

Some give warnings. Some give tickets. Why not do the same thing for everyone? hmm...???

So what I said wasn't ignorant at all.

Oh yeah. Welcome to the forum! Show us pics of your Busa!

(DeRos @ Jul. 25 2006,20:08) Well I know it's stupid not to have that endorsement but the damn thing cost $90

hey if anyone feels like investing in a business I have several great ideas... Im currently moving on the one I can make a living at starting with $0 but with investors I have several great plans going... anyway Im not so mad any more whats done is done, hopefully I'll get most of the stuff dropped or reduced with some preparation for court.
Dude you got nerve! Don't get me wrong as I really hope you get through this ok. But, I am a business man and you made a couple of really bad decisions. Do you really think that people are going to invest in your ideas when you have a demonstrated history of bad decision making? I have money invested in a couple of ventures right now and did not let lose of my hard earned money without knowing the people who would be spending it darn well. On one, I have already more then doubled my money in less then 12 months and the other is getting close to the break even point after 8 months. If either one of these guys had told me the story you told us, I wouldn't have given them the pocket change I am carrying.

Think about what you did and try and use a "third person" perspective. You were riding illegally and knowingly had been for over a month because you thought it cost too much to ride within the law. This was a conscious on-going decision that you made and continued to make on a daily basis. This tells me that you will inevitably make another bad choice as you are prone to them as demonstrated.

Next, you made an instantaneous decision to speed up rather than slow down. Looking at your picture, how far in advance did you see the obstruction in your lane? Yet, you waited to make your decision at the last possible moment? Rather then plan to act, you react? And in retrospect, we now know that you made another wrong decision. Not to berate you here so don't take it that way. Remember, we are looking at this from the third person perspective and facts are facts. You decided to speed up and brake the law instead of slowing down and pursuing a course of action that would have stayed within the confines of the law. Granted, the maneuver would be easy on a sport bike and easy to execute in a safe manner albeit an illegal one. The point here is, you need to learn from this. That officer might have just done something to teach you a lesson that if (big “ifâ€￾ here) you learn from it could save your life someday and at the very least make you a better person. Your desire to save $90.00 just cost you a whole lot more.

Please don’t take this as being flamed. You just need to objectively look at what has transpired here and learn from it. I do wish you the best of luck and if I didn’t want you to learn and become a better person from your experience, I would not have taken the 15 minutes out of my life to type all of this.

Pandemic,

Okay, I've settled down. I just get tired of hearing stuff like that, even after all this time. As to why the seeming inconsistency: A lot of variables apply to each enforcement action, such as prevailing traffic, weather and roadway conditions. Also, how much riding experience does the rider have. I'm more inclined to give an ass chewing to a 10+ year rider than I am to a new rider, who should be focusing on his/her riding abilities instead of stunting. My job would be easier if there were no variables ;-) I'm not super computer savvy, but I'll try to include a pic of my baby.

Nice 06 you have there!

I actually do my best to ride my busa in a sane manner when cars are present... but get me out on the open road where everything looks clear... watch out! Some bugs are going to die!!! hehe!

I have to agree with what Shanling said above but something else that comes to mind is, if you have zero money and this is going to cost you anything, why let it cost you your business?  Why not get rid of the busa and work on getting the business off the ground first?

Priorities, man, priorities.  I wouldn't invest with you for THAT reason.  You place a higher priority on a motorcycle than you do on your newly-formed business.

I didnt have my liscense when I first got my bike and I got a ticket and the cop told me get my liscense bring it to court and show the judge I had it and they would throw it out.
As far as cops there are good and bad just like everything and I know some areas have quotas and it is a big source of revenue. Cops are just doing their job. I have had over 20 tickets. i had 5 at one time. Once the officer showed up to the impound the next day to write me two more tickets because we tried to file a complaint against him. He gave those to my dad I wasnt even there. I have had everything cleared by lawyers and have no points nothing is on my record. So its not about safety its about money.

Motorcycles should be allowed to speed. And cagers should be given life in prison if they hit a bike!

... only in a perfect world.

Luvriding,

You have to be trying to bait us ;-). I'm inclined to think you're exaggerating about the cite count. I've worked for a large CA law enforcement department for quite a while and I must say, I have had my share of days in court and I don't offen see an officer lose a case just because some lawyer shows up. I think you would be surprised how often we're approached prior to the trial and asked by counsel if we would be willing to consider a reduced charge. It's not lawyer savvy that gets you the break;' it's the officer thinking that maybe you've learned your lesson and will comply with the law next time your out there. If I saw you in court time and again, I'd likely just tell your lawyer to have a seat and wait for trial, because there's no way I'd continue to cut you some slack. Just my .02, but you had either better stay where you're loving now or grow up and ride responsibly.

Pandemic,

Thank you. I love that bird. I came off of a BMW KLT1200, the gold one. Big change! I figured I'd been riding about 20 years, so it was time to settle down and get a touring rig. However, my wife said it made me look old ;-0 So, I went back to something sporty. Have you tried going to track days in your area? You can go as fast as you have the skill for without my kind (cops) even raising an eyebrow. I have the advantage of having a lot of dry lake beds fairly close by so I can give the speed bug a bite back! Please, be careful out there. In California, our collision rate for motorcyclists is skyrocketing (lots of new riders climbing on ever more powerful bikes) . The last fatal motorcycle crash I supervised at wasn't even the fault of the rider. Wear your gear religiously!.

Cops should give tickets to bikers for riding too slow! A busa on the freeway should be over 130mph at all times! Just my opinion... lol!
