It would be nice if Cache could give us his version, since Chief Gullickson wanted to speak to him about doing a trace on who posted this information.

When Chief Gullickson said the father, Chad, wanted to know who started this story and asked me if I could trace the user/IP address, I told him I was not a moderator and that he should talk to the board administrator. I e-mailed Chief Gullickson a link to the board, and a link to this topic, plus, I sent Cache a PM informing him of the Chief's request and gave Cache all of the pertinent contact info.

I agree BentValve...it would be nice to know what is "actually" going on here from an outside party...someone other than you and myself.

Cache...are you at liberty to discuss this?

1. I understand the principle. I am not questioning "YOU". I am questioning the validity of the original post. You just happened to stick your nose into this and vouch for a friend, which is admirable, but may not have been the best thing in this instance. You siad yourself, that you did not know this family of what happened, but that you knew Natalie. You should have left it at that.

3. You can keep trying to "save face" all you want BV. I didn't start this post with a request for help. How many times do I have to tell you that all I was ever trying to do was validate the story.

Captain should be able to shed some light on this by next week. I don't think he'll be able to do much over the weekend. We should wait and see what Captain can find out. Otherwise this is just going to turn into a constant back-forth debate over who is right. We don't need that on this board. That is why in my PM to you, I said that I would keep this all private an off the board, but you decided to call me out in your response on Nov. 04 2005,22:24 (bottom of page-1).

Please give this a rest until Captain can determine what's going on.

Child privacy laws and the police department's response.

The police Chief would not lie and say there was not accident if there was. If information could not be release due to child privacy laws that is exactly what the chief of police would have said.

if the chief of police said there was not an accident, there was no accident.

So you all can make determination as to the rest of the story.

I was one of the moderators that "Chad" contacted to delete this thread. I asked him for more information so I could make a determination on if I should delete the thread or not and he refused to provide additional information.

At that point I deferred it to Cache for further handling.

I normally do not post emails I receive from people. But since this "Chad" states he has not received a messsage from me.

My thoughts exactly.

At some point, someone is going to need an IP address search done to verify that all of the parties involved are actually who they say they are.

Locking this thread would be the best option until it is resolved.

I don't understand why a "father" would put so much effort into keeping his daughter misfortune a secret. Especially when others are trying to help.

I am a father, and I do have a daughter, although mine is 16 years old. If this had happened to my daughter, I would have done everything in my power to make sure the police, the media, and the public, knew everything that happened so that the idiot on the bike could be caught sooner.

I'm sorry, but at this point I do not trust that you are, in fact, who you say are. Anyone can register with a new screen-name and claim they are "Chad". I honestly feel that if an IP address trace were done, then we could sort this out and move on.

This guy has posted this same story on a local California motorcycle board. It seems to me that this would be a local community fundraiser, not hitting up every motorcycle board in the country because a motorcycle may have been involved in an accident.

Well...it's been over two weeks and I haven't heard anything else on this topic.

I had sent a couple of PM's to Captain about this, but never got any response from him, although I did get the receipts from them being read.

I thought that we would get an update by now, but I guess I shouldn't have expected any support in trying to validate the information.

I'm sorry to the other board members for trying to look out for a possible scam. I'm sorry that I ever got involved, because during this topic, my credibility was brought into question. I have been on this board for over 2 years, and have never had a moderator find anything wrong with my posting. When I did have something questionable, I submitted it to Cache for his review, guidance, and approval prior to posting.

I thought that due to my history, I would have received better support, but I was wrong.

From this moment on...Everybody can fend for themselves as far as possible scams are concerned. I won't get involved any longer.

I think your credibility is just fine. And no matter what some will say don't give up trying to do the right thing. Seems like there has been to many things questioned here lately. Myself included. This thread went nowhere. No proof. But a think there was a request for cash. Sorry, I would help anyone to a point. But show me the proof first. Or go away. You are an asset to this board so keep it up.

Stkr - You have my backing on this.

It smacks of scam from start to finish! First of all... for someone not wanting his or his daughters names to be posted anymore, he sure didn't waste his time posting his name not once but twice and IN CAPS so it would be easily spotted. (SCAM)

Further more, any father that gets on the board after this has been posted and doesn't at least set the record straight (even in a very generalized way) before signing off sounds a little fishy to me. (SCAM)

Finally. It is totally possible that some nut decided to post the original story and "Chad" is in fact the father and trying to put this thing to rest because the story was ficticious. However, it's also quite possible that the original post was posted by the same person posing as "Chad" and it's their attempt to keep from getting caught. There is no other scenario given all the posts and police information... so regardless it is a SCAM on some level.
