Blancas down !

sorry to hear about your misfortune. im just curious as to how the dent got in the tank? there doesnt seem to be any scratches on it.

also this is why i have trained myself to NOT use my rear brake. its too hard to control it in an emergency. there was an interview in cycle world of some racer. he was testing abs brakes. said he never uses the rear brake on the track or otherwise. i have since taken his advice and probably saved a crash. during an emergency it is very hard to have contol over the brake foot.

heal up and get that bike fixed.

I honestly think my hand/wrist is what put dent in tank ? Other than that I have no idea ?

Glad your ok man
With the way you described the wreck I was expecting to see Blanca all tore up, I have to say I believe this is one of the few times the car lost :poke:

Wow Said! Sorry to hear this but glad you are ok. When I rad the title, I was hoping it wasnt bad. Could have been way worst. At least bike didnt need a tow. That would have added inult to injury. It is great that you have insurance otherwise it would really be painfull. orry I mied the ride but had another gig goin on. Hit me up next time u head out, bro!

Lee

Thanks all for the well wishes .
Almost thirty years of riding on street and up till now I've only been down three times.
First time I hit a dog when I was thirteen on my xt125.
Second time I was sixteen in CT and crashed on ice on my Rz350 cuz I didn't want to stay home with parents .
Third time I was run over on I95 on my zx11 , completely run over .
And now this .

Well looks like I don't want to go down around you.. Seems like you have all the luck.. To have walked away from that... Especially the being ran over! I go down next to you, you're gonna have all the luck sucked out of the air...

Just kidding.. Seriously, glad you're ok.. Would miss all your good post.. So that said and done, get well quickly so we can get back to reading your good post.. ok!

Thank you . Yes this time I was on other end and the one doin the running into .
On my zx11 i was on I95 when traffic came to a stop , I stopped and Lincoln Town car behind me didn't ! She hit me hard which threw me up in air and in front of bike at which time she panicked and gassed it . I was in front of bike and bike went down with tires facing her and handlebars facing me. Her car ramped over my bike and 'jumped' over me completely ! A smaller bike and I may not have been so lucky . To this day I can close my eyes and see the driveshaft of her car spinning and undercarriage of car as it went over me. It never touched me !
After she drove over me I was kinda in shock and laid on hgwy for a few seconds as cars passed inches away from me at hgwy speed.
When I realized what had just happened like a shot deer I jumped up not knowing my injuries and wobbled over to median wall on the hgwy. Calls made to 911 had told them 'a rider had gone under a car on I95' !
When ambulance got there the Emt jumped out of back with a mop and bucket in his hands ! He asked the sheriff 'where is he?' thinking I was dead so he could begin cleanup . The sheriff pointed to me and I could hear Emt say 'no where is guy who went under the car?' I hollered 'over here' and he had the most puzzled look on his face .
Went and put mop and bucket back in ambulance and came back with gurney .
I had three herniated discs from initial hit and both my knees were kinds ripped open from when they caught on handlebars/reservoirs when I went over in front .

No way, sorry to hear this. I am familiar with the rebuild process, taught me a lesson. Let me know how I can help.

2 questions.

1. Did she stop to see what she had done?
2. Everybody just kept going?? Didn't even slow down??

If either are true how can people be so heartless, I believe I would have to stop if I saw someone lying in the road with no help, and I really hope that kind of treatment would be returned if I was the one in the road.

It was middle lane of I95 . after she panicked , gassed it and drove/jumped over me she stopped .
Cars in both left and right lanes were flying past us at hgwy speeds .
Funny thing about whole story is a few days after it happened i was sitting at mgrs desk at Palm Beach Lincoln Mercury when a tow truck brought her car in .
Tow truck pulls up and she gets out and asks us where the body shop was because she had 'hit' a motorcycle and needed to get her car fixed . Day of accident i was in too much pain and they took me away in Ambulance so I didn't get to see her . So when she was in front of me days later and said that i asked her where it happened and she said I95.
I about 'you know what' a brick and told her I was the one she had run over . This lady was about 70 and she started crying really bad saying how sorry she was and begged me for forgiveness. Not being the kind to hold a grudge I assured her it was just an accident and I held nothing against her . She was so moved by whole thing that I could see the weight lifted off her when I told her I was ok.
After that day she would come in from time to time and also bought several cars from us . Small world

1. Someone not stopping surprise you after nearly killing you, that's s.o.p. here in S.FL

2. Don't be surprised if no one stops to see if you are ok or even anonymously hand or mail a license plate number to LEO, that is also standard operating procedure here in S FL.

Have been the victim of 2 hit and runs and in one of them they had to back up and hit me again to leave the scene. Wasn't some dark deserted highway in the middle of nowhere, nah.... this was at 6:30 in the afternoon US1 in Coral Gables. Traffic everywhere in one of the busiest roads in the city, people just drove around the carcass on the floor and went about their business.

Keep that in mind when your planning your next motorcycle adventure to FL. thats the way it goes here sometimes. When I went to TN I was stunned at how people drove their more like shock, wasn't sure if I was still on earth.

You think florida drivers are bad. Come to Jacksonville, NC. People will get you killed trying to be overly nice stopping only one lane on a 4 lane road to let someone cross. Its really bad. Nicer drivers yes and no. More dangerous, absolutely

I think in NY it's illegal to pass a stopped car without coming to stop first, not sure maybe someone would from up there will confirm or correct this for me. But when ever there is an opening in in between cars in a line of cars or the lead no car is stopped for what seems no apparent reason. Good idea to start slowing and get ready to stop, just in case. All that while watching your rear  cycling sure is harder than it used to be.

Glad it wasn't worse and you are still around to post about it. Everybody makes mistakes. The problem is if you keep making the same mistake, and I don't think you will have that problem.

Heal up quick!

Saiid, I'm glad you're okay! I know how difficult it is to see your bike torn up, but at least it's not you too. The damage doesn't look all that terrible. Good luck with it all.

Glad you're okay but it could have been worse. We all can make mistakes. I did something very similar last year and worse yet it happened about 3 days after I had purchased my busa. So you can imagine how sick I was that I had damaged my "new to me" ride. I was on a secondary road going about 35 -40 mph following behind a pick-up truck that was hauling a flatbed trailer. The truck unexpectedly slowed quickly and stopped to make left turn into a driveway. For whatever reason I was way late in realizing this. I had no good escape route. I slowed as quickly as possible using both brakes and tried to angle the bike to miss the trailer on the left. I didn't have quite enough room and I clipped the back edge of the trailer. I was probably under 10 mph at that point but the impact smashed the headlight, upper fairing and bent the fairing stay. I was fine physically just extremely pissed at myself for making a mistake like that.

I still don't know for certain how it happened. Most likely I just wasn't focused enough on what was going on. The brake lights on the trailer were very low to the ground and hard to see from some angles so I may have been following too close given the situation. Either way it was 100% my fault. All you can do is learn from it and not make the same mistake again.

glad to hear you're ok. Low speed accidents are always safer than high speed ones. Leason learned right? Always stay focused and alert. :beerchug:
