Bought a new car! Mopar guys will probably

my 4 door family sedan quicker then Z06 Corvet anyway...
Anybody wanna race?

For 2 door i`d consider this one. 738LB torque...

ohhh... i forgot... i don`t have money for it.

Ford is the only company that did the whole retro thing right.  Chevy's new Impala is a front drive, and Dodge brought the Charger back as a 4 door.  Even Pontiac's GTO is only a car that they sold in Australia, with a few changes, but still looks nothing like the old GTO's.  Now the Mustang, you can see that it actually has some of the same looks as the old one, but in a new way.
but its still a ford..................

I owned a 73 Charger SE.  I'm not fond of them using the Charger name on the new cars.  There was never a real Charger with 4 doors.  Nice car, but not true to the Charger name.
That's no more abominable than Chevy putting the Impala moniker on the new ones.

I think they're both being disrespectful to their heritage using these names on the new models...

+1.  Next they will be calling the new POS Malibu a Chevelle.
Wait `til Pure_Ego read this... He would teach you that new Chewy`s is much better then you think they are.

yep.. best I can tell most of the people bashin the new chevies haven't sat in one yet.. have no idea what they are talking about and are all just running with the herd.

da's just the way it goes though I suppose.

I started to post up some real comparison numbers for some of you guys comparing alot of chevies to cars in their class..  but decided it wasn't worth the effort.. till you guys open your eyes it's not going to matter what I put in front of you.
I wasn't bashing the cars (except for the Malibu which you have to admit falls short in every catagory).  I was criticizing the companies bringing back the retro names without being true to the original vehicles.  Styling wise, Ford has done this the best with the T-Bird a few years ago and now the Mustang, but I agree with cashe, it may look good, but it's still a Ford under the skin.

Specs and numbers don't matter to me. The new ones may, and should outperform the older ones via technology. And I'm not knocking the new stuff. I actually like some of them. As nice as they may be, and as much as I might like some of the new cars I still say it's WRONG to use the names of the old ones on the new stuff though. As has been pointed out, most of the new stuff didn't evolve in ANY way from the original cars that "earned" those monikers. In a lot of ways doing this is like taking a new VW Bug and calling it a Carerra GT. The new "Carerra GT" would have about as much in common with an old Porsche as the new "Impala" has with the old ones. I know, different manufacturers in my analogy. Still, you get the point.

My life has been crazy the last month. Among a host of things I have been dealing with I totaled my Durango, no I'm not hurt. One of my childhood dreams as I was building Mopars was that one day I would own a HEMI. Well these aren't exactly the same but when I saw this one it was a no brainer.

2006 Dodge HEMI Charger R/T Daytona. 1 of only 4000 made. This thing is awesome and is wicked quick. Enjoy and I will get some better pics soon.

Nice ride.Got an R/T Magnum myself...always wanted a hemi. Rumor has it that sometime in the next couple of years....a 2dr Charger will be available and will be available in retro colors like lime green and orange again. I drove a 6.1 hemi magnum a few weeks ago while waiting on an oil change. Definately had some balls. Brembo brakes were awesome and real sweet leather and fabric seats.

I think all the new cars, from every manufacturer, without exception, suck.

- They have airbags
- They have seat-belts  (I don't like safety, CAN YOU good time DEAL WITH THAT, NHTSA?!)
- They do not pop wheelies with ease, or at all
- They do not come with a complementary CD chock full of classic rock, such as "Man On The Silver Mountain", so that I may look cool as I break laws
- Their styling is not retro enough.  (Though the Mustang is, admittedly, a valiant attempt).
- They have pollution controls

Just give me a good old '69/70 Elky with a 454, a 4-barrel and a Torque Flight, or a Dodge Daytona Superbird

I think they are sweet, and the big hemi R/T posts some serious numbers, But WHY, please tell me WHY they made that car, with that power in a 4 door.  The shame of it all.

Still looks good though, but they could of done so much more with such a classic.
I also agree, they should have made it a 2 door like the original. Still though thats one sweet ride and would love to own one.

Congrats and good luck with it.

I must be getting old because to me the 4 doors look good.

Congrats Justin!

I think what you guys are forgetting is that most of these historical names mean squat to anybody other than the people that grew up with them..

and what family man is gonna buy a 2 door vehicle?

wouldn't have been much point in calling it a charger if they made a 2 door model out of it.. yeah it may have still sold just as well... but it wouldn't have got as many previous owners/wanters interested in it if it was 2 doors. Not many middle aged men that can live with a 2 door vehicle... they probably could.. but i'm sure their wives would have a say in them getting a 2 door high performance car..

makes sense to me why they did it.

Congrats Man

Ignore the jealous and the wannabee Euro Rabble Bro!

The wing isn't all that but otherwise I love it... Have fun with it.

Lots of opinions, nice to see them. If you haven't driven one of these new HEMI's your missing out. This Daytona model has a few more ponies and better sound than the regular R/T and it actually sounds like a muscle car when you open it up, or as close as can be. The auto stick is responsive as hell and quick to shift when told to.

I also understand the 'sacralidge' stuff about the four door and agree to some extent on it, but making cars exactly like they were 30 yrs ago would be pointless and quite frankly wouldn't sell all that much. The sound system in this things kicks ass, and I'm from a pro car audio back ground, I should know. The suspension is great along with the brakes. Overall an excellent machine that respects the heritage with a nod to the past, but engineered to work for the future. I LOVE THIS MACHINE, MOPAR RULES!

These are crappy pics due to the flourescent lights. I will get some better pics soon when the weather is better, raining and poopy right now.
