Arrr Matey , you probably guessed what hybrid my bride wants & I would rather roll in a Rivian SUV if push comes to shove •

Money no object? 1973 Porsche 911RS, please.

I got to drive their new version and it was a gas! My son chose the Shelby SuperSnake GT500 and I got the Porsche, Lambo and the Ferrari. Three hot laps each around the Sonoma Raceway. The Lambo was AWD and the steering was heavy but man did it corner! All three absolutely hauled azz but the Porsche seemed to be so much lighter and easier to drive. The DCTs in all three were incredible! Loved them. Their brakes were also incredible. HUGE rotors all around.

Must have been an amazing experience.

A friend of mine has a blue 1970 with black interior, numbers matching(not the Petty blue, but the other lighter blue)
440 4-barrel, automatic console shift.
It even still had the build sheet behind the rear seat.
He did a frame-off restoration last year, and did all the work himself except bodywork and paint.
Sorry, I can't find the finished pictures of it.
I'll have to take some more.

Notice the purple '71 Cuda in the background...also his, and also frame-off restored, numbers matching.
440 6-pack 4 speed, black interior, front bench seat...and an incredibly quick car, that usually instantly lights the tires up, lol, the carbs are tuned dead on.
That one has headers on it too, but he has the factory manifolds.
I'll take pictures of both of them when it warms up, vs just sitting in the garage.
As expected, he only takes them out on nice days.
The Cuda is worth about $80k+
and the Superbird is $250k-$300k+
I forget the mileage, but both are 20k or 40k original.
He's looking for a late 60's GTO now to restore next.

I do like high end cars. Well, those a bit above Joe Average.

When I was in the trade I got to drive everything new in the Porsche range, including stuff like a few GT3-RS’s and a very up spec’d and expensive Porsche Speedster, and from the same family cars like the V10 Audi R8 etc.

Whilst part of me still drools over them, the part of me with a grasp on reality knows I would struggle to get down my driveway out here, have no one within several hours to service or repair one, and be paranoid about the roads and wildlife. They’d be garage ornaments.

An Old Skool car with bigger wall tyres, steel rims, more ground clearance etc, or a big tough turbo diesel Landcruiser would actually be more enjoyable to own and use.

For a bit of fun, and not big money, a “Wolf Creek” movie replica Ute would turn some heads out here and actually be a very usable daily drive.
