Braking

Well jay... The rear breaks anyway wait to lockup... so not too keen on making them very responsive

Do brembo cylinders make a lot of difference

I wouldn't know personally, but I've read posts of people just replacing the lines and the cylinders and having great braking power. (With stock rotors and calipers.)

So, I think it makes a noticable difference, I just don't know how big, maybe someone else has some personal experience here.

cruncherbusa... do you have the pdf version of the busa manual! That should tell you how to change the break liner! Do you want me to paste alink of the manual....

Am I a minority here? I've always thought the brakes were very responsive...is that because I started on a Harley? Really, I see this topic come up often, so I'm always thinking I should swap out the brake lines and brakes because everyone says they're so bad...

Hrmmm...I think I just go too slow...

VA, my uncle has a harley (well its a kawasaki...but one of "those" kinds of bikes.) He told me to take it out for a cruise so I could feel the difference between a sportbike and a cruiser one day.

Well I rode that big blue cruiser in a red full face helmet with red gloves and a red joe rocket jacket (I had been riding with him on MY bike all day). So there I am going down the street in this big reclined lounge chair in all my gear. Well I come to a stoplight and I start pulling on the front brake. OMG! I had to freakin swearve around the car in front of me because it took me like 1/4 mile to stop!!!!!

I get back to my uncles house and say "damn your brakes suck, you gotta fix those things." He said "you were pullin on the front weren't you?" Then he tells me that the cruisers are a$$-backward. Their rear brake provides the power of our front brake and vice-versa. I thought that was crazy.

But long-story, short, if you are comparing the front brakes of the busa to the front brakes of a harley....yes our brakes are made of magical superglue that shoots out and instantly stops our bike. But if you compare our brakes to what they should be (especially if you put some extra ponies under that hood...uh...fairing, then we are pretty much driving my uncle's kawiharley.

VA I feel the breaks on the busa are ok.... but for that speed and weight! Better is safer

Coming over from an RC51, (Awesome stock brakes) I thought the busa brakes sucked pretty bad.

Yes, it's cuz you started on a hardley. If it stops good for you, and your riding style, then don't worry about changing them!

the first thing I bought for my busa was:
1. steel braided brake lines
2. EBC HH brake pads[/QUOTE]

Would you say these upgrades brought the Busa up the the same par as the RC51 in braking or does it still fall short in your opinion? At 430lbs dry the RC51 isn't exactly a light bike either though it is still lighter than the Busa.

Isn't calling the brakes crappy a bit harsh, the Busa weighs 480lbs dry , probably pushing 550+ wet? I mean at what point can you stop blaming the brakes and start blaming physics?
