You realy want to fly direct to rio! don't fly through Sao Palo its a nightmare, cheaper prices on tickets can be found through Sergio & Doris travel agent outta houston or CostaMar travel outta florida. You got the right idea though stay awway from the high tourist areas.

Like I said before my wife whoole family loves there in Duque de Caxias which is 15 minutes from Rio international.
