Building A Exo-busa Kit Car

Exhaust came with the kit.
Also, when done it will be registered as a car, not bike. Will have to comply with the sound decibel level that factory cars have to comply with.

After I can change, but until it is registered I have to follow their rules.

nice was curious if that might be the reason...

Well, I'll skip to the pictures people care about.

Mock up of the body work. Still needs wired and plumbing done.

Question guys...

I had to mod the case for the reverse gear on my kit. This lead to the removing of the speedo sensor and that part of the case.

Do you know of any way of getting the sensor to work on the cluster?

Interesting. Looks like you should be able to fab up some kind of bracket. Mount it to the support that is holding your reverse motor. It's hard to tell what kind of real room you have by the pics, but you have made it this far into this project, so I know your no stranger to on the fly fab work.

Hey guys,

I'm starting the work on the motor end of things. Since the motor is stationary in the car frame I had to get a custom oil pan made for this.

I also picked up a Oil Pump Over Drive gear.

So... this leads me to a couple questions for you..

1. Since I am changing the oil Pump Gear, should I replace the pump also? The motor has about 6k on it.

2. While I'm in there, should I upgrade the clutch? Or do the clutch mod I've read about.

Very Cool.. .I am kind of doing the same thing.. .only mine is a 3 Wheeler based on a 06 Busa. I got mine from a wrecked/slavage bike out of KC. I am going to go through the whole engine... and yes.. I am considering a Turbo... will have to see what the wallet says !!! LOL

i would do all the upgrading you can now while the motor is out. Much easier now then later. I am not aware of any issues with the existing oil pumps in that year but like i said, you have it apart, over size and plan on mods.

You should definately have the transmission gears undercut while the engine is apart.
Otherwise, you risk losing 2nd gear at any time.
All gen1 Busas can have 2nd gear fail for no real reason, it's just the design.
There are 100k+ mile bikes that have never had an issue, and there are many low mile, lazy ridden bikes that 2nd gear fails in.
It's an average $300 machine shop fee, and worth doing, for peace of mind if nothing else.

I'll keep an eye on it.. The motor really isn't apart... it's already mounted in the chassis. It would be a pain in the ass to get back out.

Update on the build.

I got the Brock's clutch mod.
Picked up a Barnett Clutch
Grabbed a over drive oil pump gear.

Install all these this week.

Issue I am having right now is the exhaust is hitting the Rilltech oil pan now.
Here's a video on the issue if anyone wants to chime in.

The Rilltech sidewinder exhaust is way expensive. $1700+ for it.

I went with the Rilltech oil pan because I like the simple set up of the wet system and also it was cheaper than a dry sump system.

So now, I'm looking at other sidewinder exhausts I could modify to fit. . . I have a WTB thread started..

Looks like the VooDoo system would be easy to modify for my needs.

Very cool project. How about fabricating an elbow oil drain that extends out a couple inches and turns down between the pipes with a screw plug on that? Not sure but maybe you can shave a bit off the front of the oil pan to get clearance? Looks like you only need a little bit in the video.
