Haven't tried the 17/43T myself (soon) but it's as close to the 16/42 set-up as you'll get while being a little more rider friendly for highways. On our top speed runs the 16/42 guys get left behind easily compared to the 17/40 stock set-up.(Learjett @ Jul. 14 2007,20:22) Dang, I just took the 16 off the front but left the 42. 16 / 42 IS a kicker!.... but I'm doing a bit more interstate riding right now. I'll put it back on sooner or later though.
yes race is over after 160 unless u are a real nut and take a chance mr popo will get ya staying above the speed limit longer(kennym4 @ Jul. 15 2007,05:03) I'm all about mid end, 45 mph - 160 mph, should I run the 16/42 ?
16/42 gearing would be 167 mph @ 10k(bradsbusa @ Jul. 14 2007,22:05)about 179 ish(LeeFL2 @ Jul. 14 2007,21:23) Congrats on the kill.
Say, what is the topend with the 16-42 sprockets?
Hey Bill don't you just love a good ricer fly by ...lol....(JINKSTER @ Jul. 20 2007,07:34) dang......and to think...somewhere on an SV1000 board there's a guy that's bragging about snuffing out a busa last week...mine.
We rolled in together on an entrance ramp to I-95...headed to work in the morning...young dude on a blue SV1000....he's wearing a helmet, t-shirt and jeans...i thought...cool...i'll run up I-95 with him....then the azzhole goes wfo ballistic on the entrance ramp...we merged onto the interstate at 120...when he physically turns around to see where i was at...which was about 6 feet off his tail.
Then he freaks, tucks and runs....traffic was getting thick quick and he started lane surfing...i let'im go...i didn't wanna be the reason for him killing himself.

yeah...especially when it's some point-n-shoot dork who's mind is telling him....(1300hemibusa @ Jul. 20 2007,05:26)Hey Bill don't you just love a good ricer fly by ...lol....(JINKSTER @ Jul. 20 2007,07:34) dang......and to think...somewhere on an SV1000 board there's a guy that's bragging about snuffing out a busa last week...mine.

You were coming home from Worf's?? Or work??(bradsbusa @ Jul. 14 2007,10:30) ok im comming home from worf about 3:00 today in the left lane on interstate 95 68 mph ,, jammin to [[[[playin with the boys ]]]] then comes bike behind me i see him then he goes by me about 80-90 at that moment all i saw was zx 14 so im not a hot dog but if tested on the right spot on 95 i will have to crack it .. i guess thats the testoserone in me at 42 yrs old ,,, so i came down 4 th gear hit and rolled by at about 120 sorry fellows it had to be done. so he tried to roll up and thats all i needed for him to do so he could see the back side of the busa .... nuff said ...... dont come to a gunfight with a knife
I believe you will have to buy a 120 link chain for that, I am pretty sure that stock 112 link chain cannot reach around 17/43 gearing, thats why a lot of people go 16/42 you can use the same chain(Over_Easy @ Jul. 14 2007,14:22) I'm looking at getting the 17/43 set-up in a couple weeks...closest 17 set-up to a 16/42. This set-up allows a little more top-end (looking at gear ratios) while losing a hair of pull down low. If I need more from there it's an easy transition to a 16/43.
If one wants to move up from a 16/42 for some reason they would need to but another sprocket yet again.
