Busa a good starter bike? NO! Need your $0.02!!!

Welcome. Since you asked, a Busa is a great bike to keep going on, but not a starter bike. You can make it grow with you but most will try it out long before they are able to handle it. The real mark of a good beginner rider is when they know a Busa is too much to start with, the name the prestige etc. Two of my 3 boys ride. They have rode for a long time from dirt bikes on up. They also would not touch my Busa. No they are not whimps they enjoy other bikes and know mine is an extreme machine. Grant you mine is way over most people (310hp), but the point is there is too many good bikes to start with other then a Busa. I look at it this way if a new rider cannot make this judgment for himself or herself, most likely they should not be riding at all. I have rode for 32 years and still do things that most, including myself would consider dangerous. Have your friend ask himself why a Busa.

Hmmmm, to be honest I think if he's responsible and sensible and already has somewhat limited experience with SPEED driving, then let him get the busa. Typically I wouldn't reccommend it as a starter biker. But if he's learned a respect for speed and therefore knows he has to take it slow till he learns the vehicle then I'ld say go ahead and save your money and get the bike you want from the start. Just remind him if he DISRESPECTS her, she's not gonna just walk away and he may not either.

Without knowing the person, clearly we all should not reccomend the Busa as a first bike. It is like suggesting the Rodeo for someone who has never ridden a horse. However, I do believe it is possible and if I had an opportunity to buy a Busa as a first bike (4 bikes ago) I would do it. Knowing what i know now, I absolutely would do it. However, as a young man of ~24, I was extremely mature and had great decision making skills....I mean decisions to NOT do stupid things. Most 18 year olds don't have such maturity.

So in a generic sense, I say no, but if this kid is an 18 year old novelty when it comes to maturity...the answer is maybe.

I know all the guys hate it when I say this but a Busa is no more dangerous of a bike than any 600 Supersport in fact the new Kawi is probably just as unsafe . All of these sportbikes are capable of more than 100 MPH they are all dangerous the Busa is faster but if youi have it in your mind to run as fast as the bike will go you are probably getting on something (any sportbike ) that will kill you. A busa is no more dangerous than any other . A busa is better than some bikes that are more prone to wheelies and over driving because your to confident in the bike such as the GSXR 1000. Its all about your attitude guys no matter what you say its true and we all know it . The only thing I will say bad about the Busa is it is heavy if you have never had a dirtbike and dont know what to expect when you stop or corner slow etc you could tip it over easier . It does accelerate faster than most but I dont think it gives that good of a feal in the corners as compared to others the brakes are great good 2up ride and if you want to go 190 MPH it will ok 25 MPH faster than a GSXR 600 do you think you wont die at 165 MPH
