Busa = Gixxer1300?

NO a hayabusa is not a gsxr.

its a gsx...just like a katana. And just like katana it uses left over technology from the gsxr.

Still to this date the hayabusa has zero unique technology. I wears all hand me downs from the gsxr. So even though it is FINALLY catching up to its potential, the hayabusa is king merely by displacement.(of the suzuki sportbike line up) The current Hayabusa can not even defend its title from the factory floor as the fastest production bike anymore....

So even though you like your bikes...you are living a dream.

It's a Katana ??? now that's funny...

seriously bro... last I heard, Katanas were a GSX-F :rulez: (no R in there) not to mention the carburetors and the 11 : 1 compression ratio (12.5 : 1 for the BUSA and... oh yea, GSXR's)

Looks to me like they are more related to the Gixxer family than the Kat family... JMO

original busas (ie: gen 1s) had 11:1 CR....... genius.

and the new "katana" is FI also.

katanas and the busa get the left over technology...hence the gsx reference...

The truth will set you free my friend. Tell the truth, your Gixxer got beat by a Busa and now you're hating. It's ok, admiting it is the first step in the healing process!

The busa has the same model designator as any of the other non-race bikes... e.g. GSX-R600, GSX-R750, GSX-R1000... compare GSX650F, GSX750F (no longer produced), and the GSX1300R... its not a race bike... ;-)

so, suzuki4life...out of curiosity, what make/model are you defending so gratiously?:poke: personally, all I've had to refer to mine was simply "a busa" they look, see that it's the blue & silver one, realize they can't f w/it, and humbly back away:whistle:

Really Suzuki4Life, this conversation just seemed so friendly then your "I have all the information" started appearing. Sometimes it's just not the right time to be so confrontational.

I tried that tactic. The insurance lady said "Oh, you have a Hayabusa, that'll be $1500 please". They know all the tricks!???

Well if you can't tell by my Big HOG Patch I have in the top slip of my tank bag, because usually I just point at that.....then my response is "Busa", followed by "Hayabusa ?", followed by "GSX1300R ?"....followed by, well you get it......

everyone that matters already knows.. just saying hayabusa brings a smile.. even when i didnt have one.. but now i do! been smiling alot

People ask me all the time at work, resturaunts etc. "What kinda bike do you have?". And I always reply w/:

Q: What kinda bike?
A: A Suzuki
Q: Suzuki what?
A: Oh, a Gixxer
Q: 600? 750?
A: No, a 1300.

It got me thinkin, would you really consider a Busa a Gixxer?
Could I get away w/ putting GSXR stickers on my Busa?

HEY! I did it first

Only cause the decal seemed a little to long for me.. Any one that doesn't know it's a 1300 really should stop looking at bikes jmo

A simple "Busa" to most bike people is enough. For insurance purposes (and blank stares after saying Busa) its a '06 Suzuki 1300. As the others have said, its not a Gixxer.

The first generation of the Hayabusa was called the GSX1300R and was powered by a 1299 cc. Increased competition led to Suzuki heavily revising the GSX1300R for the 2008 model year. Suzuki has dropped the GSX1300R designation in some countries and simply called the motorcycle the Hayabusa. The engine size was increased to 1340 cc.

Or could be that the Gixxer are the test dummies of the Suzuki line once it has been proven successful on the track an on the street they ALLOW it or incorporate the new tech into the real king of the streets. So as not to screw up a perfect machine.

WOW..............THIS WHOLE THING SOUNDS FIMILIAR TO:
CBR600
CBR1000
CBRXX............OR JUST BLACKBIRD!

THAT WAS MY LAST BIKE AND AT ONE TIME WAS RESPECTED LIKE THE BUSA!LIKE THEY SAY"IF YOU CAN'T BEAT THEM JOIN THEM"!

THE BUSA IS TRUELY THE KING OF THE SPORTBIKES!

I always figured Suzuki put the "R" at the end of the GSX1300 because that's where "R" bikes ride........behind the 1300.

I do consider the Busa to be a Gixxer because, although the 1300 separates them, the GSX and the R are all there.
