53 yrs young.
As a teenage I never gave m/c's any thought (other than images of Hell's Angels). Performance in a motor vehicle for me was when I fantasized about an AC Cobra going 0-60 in 4 seconds. But at 18 yrs old with $800.00 to spend my good buddy, Ted, suggested that I had enought to buy a M/C. What, is there any excitement in two wheels? Shortly thereafter, in July 64, in Memphis Tn. I was an owner of brand new Honda Super Hawk 305 (20 some rear wheel hp). The Cycle Shop's owner told his teenage son to take me out and "teach me how to ride." We unloaded the bike from his pickup truck in the middle of a suburban area, and he says, you do this to shift, brake, etc. and then he drives off! Needless to say, I had my first crash (just skinned knees and hands - no protective clothing) my first day of riding. I pushed the m/c about 1 1/2 miles back to the shop and enjoyed watching the owner nearly kill his son. But the real point of this story is the bug: the "motor" bug. Even though I had only ridden several miles before I crashed - I was hooked. Like the rest of you "lifers" I was permanently infected with the "motor" bug. Is there a better motor disease than the Busa?
