Busa -vs- Triumph Rocket III?

I said lets go run em right now. You beat me and I'll buy one.....he mumbled something and walked off.

Was it something like "yeah i'm not gonna ride the gee out of a brand new rocket which hasn't even been rode in yet just so you can say 'fook awf i'm not buying one ha ha' " ?

The Triumph is better on rollon top gear at most speeds up to 120kph and up to 0 to100kph in acceleration.

Probably because the rocket's top speed is a lot lower than the busa top speed, i.e. 6 gears over 186 mph* is different to 5 gears over 140mph.

Dont try to go round a corner though!!!!

i find that hard to believe because the fastest documented 0-60mph or '0 to 100kph' i've seen for the rocket III is 3.4 seconds and 2.4 seconds for the busa.

In this vid the rocket gets to 60 in about 2.5 secs, and he didn't even launch it right.

Being a cruiser and lacking a fairing, 6th gear, max power at 6k rev as opposed to 10k on busa (i.e. low rev engine vs high rev engine) the rocket's top speed is a lot lower - so the busa will leave it behind every time if you go beyond 402m.

Of course nobody on a busa fanboy forum is going to admit the rocket makes their busa nervous

Does anyone have a link to any shoot out with the Rocket III in it? *I am trying to find the 0-10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 times.

I know it is no match for the Busa but am trying to prove a point to a 40-year guy in my college class. *This fag keeps quoting magazine articles about the Triumph beating the Busa 0-60 not knowing anything about either bike.

We all know that it was marketing hype in the beginning but I can't seem to find the official test results. *Anything you could give me would be great!

I have searched on about 10-different sites and can't seem to find it.

and choose hayabusa & triumph rocket comparison.. not many rockets there but the ones i can see are no match for a stock busa not even in 60 foot
and as for 1/8 mile the busas are so much in front by that time that it is not funny, doing about the same mph at 1/8 mile as the rockets at the 1/4 mile
There is one rocket running 10.8 in 1/4 mile but it is turbocarged running 8 psi of boost!

We're bringing a Rocket III to the bash, it runs good, but he only jumps me when I have the wife or daughter on the back....cheap shot as always...lol

Are those drag times specs really reliable though? Who are the riders, just guys who show up on their bikes for a go? If that's the case, then it makes sense rocket riders are than it's potential, i.e. old farts who think they can buy respect with a 2.3ltr bike, don't know how to ride it good.

All i can say is bring one of those rocket turds to Jackson drag way,Ill give ya the break and the back tire:rofl: $100 a pass?

I got into a little testosterone battle with a rocket sunday... from a stop light to next light about 2 blocks. At the 2nd light he said I just realized what your bike was as you were pulling away from me. Damn your bike is fast.

Don't understand why triumph isn't comparing this to the other cruisers like the VTX the 109, the V star, The Vulcan or anything in the Harley stables :dunno: From what I see of this bike I like it  Wouldn't kick any Busa out of the garage or slap a for sale sign on one, they seem like 2 completely different animals sitting on opposite sides of the spectrum.. But this bike looks like fun... an would make a great an fun stable mate for any sportbike, touring or hypersports  bike ..:beerchug:

Is this really nearly 2300 cc..... Nice capacity fuel tank any idea's on mpg???

Any one own a triumph have any idea what maintenance charges an frequency are like, an not forget parts cost???... I like BMW's too but I hear they are a nightmare come maintenance an repair time..

Availability of after market stuff??? Saddle bags an windshield for some long hauls???

To be honest this is the first time I ever looked at a triumph, I like what I see, but I think they are shooting themselves in the foot if they are comparing them to any kind of sport bike for any aspect of performance you get from the sport bikes, I am sure no one shopping for a Liter bike or a 600 RR of any kind is thinking "Wait we better go take a look at the rocket III before we buy"..

Most of those times for the rockets are better than magazine test times that i have seen for rockets,i would expect the most magazine test riders to be better than your average old fart

Looks like 6, and now 4.
Got an article in my feed about the "fastest accelerating production motorcycle", the triumph rocket 3r....... And was still disappointed to see that it's 2.73 second 0-60 time is almost .4 seconds slower than a 15 year old gsxr-1000 and equal to the accepted speed (although I've read people have done it in less) of a Hayabusa..... Which we all know is a 22 year old design.
While the rocket 3r seems like a pretty neat bike, I personally find the "street fighter" look butt ugly. I thought a 911 convertible was bad, like cutting the head off of the statue of David, but cutting off the rear end of an otherwise beautiful motorcycle, I think it might be even worse.....
