it is a kill switch... required for racing... NHRA rules.

however, in 2004 they updated the rule to allow motorcycles with OEM tipover switches to be run without the lanyard. not many officials know that, and they hate when some lil' punk tells them their business...

If you fall off, it pulls the key/throttle/whatever it's attached to so the bike cuts off and either doesn't catch fire when it crashes or doesn't head off into the wild blue yonder potentially whacking spectators or damaging other bikes.

Lanyard is a line connected to the rider and a kill switch so that if the rider comes off the bike, the bike kills. NHRA requirement unless you have a tip over switch. Congrats Chris. See ya this weekend.

What about the people who are new, (or blur and completely ignorant, i.e. me)? Where can we find out what the whole story was??

chris,

Parting it out for other things I see. I am liking the seat(s) if you are getting rid of them. Can even supply stock seats if needed..

only parting out the exhaust(since I have brand new racing exhaust) and if someone wants a crappy ol' Avon rear tire!
