Can you ride the Hayabusa for longer rides

12 hours is doable.....as experienced with our Colorado ride.

Oh...I was burning on the back/inside of my legs, but it is doable.

I have a Tobin seat, so not usre if that helped over stock or not.

I don't know exactly what to say about this. My bikes are all stock and I think they are all comfortable (I have to exclude the dirt bike since I don't ride it on the road). I think a lot of my comfort is the result of wearing full gear all the time. Leather pants, boots, and gloves absorb a lot. Just my .02

Other than that my only guess is that motorcycles are designed for us folks that are 5'10" tall

Don, you have been riding so long your skeletal frame broke into a motorcycle riding position.

I can ride much longer on the busa then on the m109"¦   that 4hour ride could only be 3hours on the busa..

really, I thought the M109 would be comfortable, but it is a freaking monster. I could not believe how big it was when I saw it in person, pictures on line don't do it justice.
That's what she said !

The 109 is a great alternative if you don't believe the Busa would meet your comfort standard. It has more then enough power to blast away the boredom you start to feel when you ride a harley. It's more agile then most cruisers ( I take it into the canyons occasionally ) and the looks you get are as many as you get with a Busa. AND ...it's a suzuki ! The best of all worlds.

Heck yea! First gen Busa with a few modifications such as Heli Bars, and Corbin Saddle and ZG Touring Windscreen. I rode 11 hours from my base in Germany to Austria for Euro Bike week. Then rode in the alps for 3 days! What a blast and I was able to walk after the rides. The harley guys were beat to death! I rode from San Antonio, Texas to Hot Springs, Arkansas stopping for fuel alone as well as Albq New Mexico and the bike makes those trips so easy. San Antonio to Dallas, it isn't even sweating and I am no worse for the wear.

From what I understand the 08 Busa is a super sport tour without modifications. I was windtunneled with an average sized rider in development, where the 1st gen was not. PS: I am also 6 ft and near 200 lbs.

I've been on the Busa from before sunrise to well after sundown.

Love it!

I use mine for 10 - 12 hours days touring Nova Scotia.
Put on 6000kms in 2 weeks.

Buell pegs
Heli bars
suzuki gel seat
ETC

I will give my report soon as I will be riding from Vegas to San Diego on Friday morning. The only comfort mods I have are helibars and the throttlemeister. My seat is not stock, but it isn't a Corbin or Towbin. I also have a db windscreen, wish I had Buell pegs.

My riding partner and I covered 1400+ on a weekend. The Busa is very good in my opinion for long hauls. Just need to install cruise control, because Busa time gets expensive.

I am 6'2 and 230... the stock setup like to killed me after a few 500M sessions.. You will know soon enough if the bike as it sits suits your needs on long rides.. Being 5'10 like Don would sure help but then I would have problems with tall chicks..

HeliBars, Corbin and the buell peg mod made all the difference for my comfort.. I also added electronic cruise because as Robert stated, "busa time gets expensive" it is easy to find yourself running 30 to 50 over on long desolate stretches ...

I currently ride a Triumph 675, which is great for short runs but bad problems on longer trips. The seat is very high which puts lots of pressure on the hands and the seat gets hot over time with the exhaust under it. I have never had back or shoulder problems though.

I was looking to get into the Hayabusa but I have never rode one.I am 6 ft tall 200lbs and with the stretch out position of the rider on the bike my question is:

1) Can you ride it for 4 hour trips in relative confront(I say relative because it is a sport bike)?
2) If you feel any pain, where is it at?
Joe, welcome to the oRg looks like you got plenty of answers to your questions but I'll go ahead and add another 2 cents... As said before the Busa is a great sport-touring bike with LOTS of options for the long haul! You merely have to set the bike up to your standards. Tall/Short, fat/thin, and/or young/old it covers them all... Being on the tall side I would recommend bar risers (Ur choice), Buell foot pegs and some sort of throttle lock! Average touring day for the bug is generally in the 10-12 hour range.

Just got back from an interrupted week of riding. A couple of 700 mile days and a couple of 400 mile days. Only mod is a Suzuki gel seat. I find the bike to be comfortable "enuff". Roads make a difference too. When there are open stretches and some curves thrown in the miles don't get counted and you don't focus on your body parts. Droning in a straight line will give you too much time to think about your comfort. I ride in full gear. When it is 100 degrees I don't care what you ride you will be uncomfortable. Weather matters!

thanks, ziggy

Hi, I am 5'9" at 190lbs and i was used to riding a Honda Hornet naked bike. I have just bought a K8 and i am loving it. The only problem is that I get a sore back and wrists and especially after 2hrs riding my thumbs get sore. I am sure its because of the way I ride by putting my weight on my arms but i can't really work out any other way of sitting. I have replaced the stock seat and my butt never hurts. The longest I have ridden on it in one go would be 3 hrs along the coast of Ireland and I loved it.
I have just ordered the Buell peg mod from GSX1300R-T which can be found here https://www.hayabusa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78309.

I will let you know the outcome from them.

Then at some point i will add the helibars but the cost is a bit out of reach at the moment after buying the bike.

Either way I love riding this beast and im just going to have to pop down to the shops before work now.

Four hours is really nothing on a Busa. Sunday, I was out for 10+ hours, 8 1/2 saddle time, just gas 'n' go with a stop for lunch somewhere in there.

I was a bit sore but that's more because I haven't ridden like that in a while. Once I get used to it, ergo, riding all the time, it's never a problem. I'm 6'4" and 255 lbs.

Mine is stock seat, too.

Longest I have gone in one setting is 1822 miles in about 29 hours.

This was two weekends ago.

That said, do note I have my K8 set up to do *exactly* this kind of desert running: 10.2 gallons of onboard fuel, and a 1-gallon insulated water bottle stuffed full of ice water. The drinking tube is attached to a janitor's retractable lanyard affixed to the tankbag, so I can easily yanked down some water anytime while underway:

I am about your size, 5'11" and 200 lbs. My 05 is great for all day riding. I could raise the clip ons and install better pegs, but money is tight and we do what we can do and overall I am happy with my riding position. With that said, we can put several hours a day easily. If you do decide to purchase one, try one thing at a time and give yourself some time to get acclamated to the new ride. AND, welcome to the oRg!
