case protector

(black954 @ Jun. 17 2007,19:38) I have repaired this before on an 02LE. I wound up removing the entire piece and installing a solid block with a hole drilled in it. Much stronger design and no more breakage. I didn't TIG weld it though since you cannot get the the oil soaked aluminum clean enough for a good TIG weld. I use aluminum stick rod and cleaned the case with muriatic acid to remove as much oil as I could. Too bad you're not in Chicago, or I could help you out.
What is an aluminum stick? Haven't heard of one. I just PM you as well. And thanks for the advise!!! Hold it down in Chi-town!

Silent recall? WTF!!!! Is there a site or something that may list recall items for the Busa?

there's two things that should always go on every bike.... that little Ti sleeve and a front sprocket cover/slave support

Front sprocket slave support? Show me? You can tell I'm kinda pissed over this whole thing!

Sprocket cover. I have one but need to install yet.
There are a few different covers but all do the same. Protect your case from a chain break.
Look here.
Some others out there less expensive.

there are lots of companies that make them so you shouldn't have a problem go through one of the board sponsors to get one. Make sure it comes with either SS or Ti bolts...

I like PMR products alot but that cover is more for show than function. It doesn't provide a cover to protect the pushrod and still leaves the water pump exposed.

Get one that looks like this from the back
prod-billet-sprocket-cover.jpg

It not only covers the top but also the front. This one is hogged out for up to a 20 tooth front. That's why the pushrod is exposed a little. The one that I have will fit up to an 18 sprocket. It keeps the pushrod trapped in the front cover. They can e easily modded for bigger sprockets.

The big bennefit of these covers is that they reduce the stress on the clutch slave in case you ever go to stiffer springs. It also protect the water pump, case, and pushrod in the event of a broken chain. Believe me it can happen and it can be pretty costly in repairs.

That looks like what Canadian Mike sells. I bought a extra for my next Busa.

they all do the same exact design... canada mike, RCC, TMH, RPM racing, TKP, kickstand racing, Big CC, Orient Express, APE, etc... that why I mentioned that you can prob pick one up fro any of the board sponsors....

I didn't even know there were that many. I knew of only 3. Nice list. And yep I see sponsors there.
