Charges are dropped.

I hear more and more of actions like this. This is how a police state begins.......how many actions were not caught? And this is only one instance and one city. Keep your heads up................

Simply pathetic...just another example police can get away from doing practically anything...from like killing a dog for nothing to killing a human being, being drunk.

Don't tarnish the profession based on the actions of a few please. I know first hand that some agencies (I assume more than not) will treat their own with a greater degree of scrutiny simply because they are held to a higher standard.

Agreed! But this did tarnish the badge in several ways.

The local agency, no doubt. And there will always be those that apply these labels to everyone. Much like the thread on the Mosque, poeple will paint all Muslims in the same color as terrorists. We know that not to be true, but we also recognize there is a tendancy to associate the two. We need to understand that there are varying degrees in both cases.

I could add to this with personal experience......but I won't. Those who know me understand what I am referring to.

I think it tarnishes the badge everywhere, just like any time a cop is found to be in the wrong.

I get your point about the Mosque thread, and although not apples and oranges it is a bit of Red Delicious and Granny Smiths.....but I don't believe anyone that has responded to the Mosque thread believes all Muslims are terrorists.

You say that, but do you or most of the Americans looks at Muslims just as another human being? My guess would be 'No'. So I guess same would be here. People seeing incidents after incidents where bad cops are getting away, they will 'misjudge' all cops as like them.

I guess, as said, it's human tendency. No matter how right or wrong it is.

I certainly hope nobody believes all cops are drunk drivers and/or guilty of falsifying/throwing out evidence. ???

I'm probably wrong though. :(

If they tarnish our image by being sportbike riders and what some of our idiots do then why would it hurt if we tarnish theirs? Just asking, everyone on here that knows me knows I have a lot of friends that are law enforcement, so I'm not out to tarnish anyone..

cops in big cities are dirtbags imho. i've met a few cops/debuties/troopers who were cool. respectful, courteous, professional. i always thought these were prerequisites for being a law enforcement officer. guess i was wrong.

Never fear.....the FBI is here
Wasn't there so I can't comment about them not recognizing officer was drunk but it is strange same processes and procedures were not done as if he was a citizen. The article has comments by victims father saying 'what if they were motorcycle cops?'
I would ask opposite . What if driver of car was not a cop but just a plain citizen ? If that were the case do you think charges would have been dropped due to mistakes or would they have found a way to keep the charges pending ?
I think the latter would have prevailed and a citizen driver would still be facing all charges.
Lastly was there a dash cam from Leo cruiser ?

/\ dead wrong. I also have met very polite officers, however that is definately not a pre-req. Cops have personalities just like we do. So there will be cops who are gentlemen, and cops who are total a-holes. Its just the way it works. Unfortunately there seem to be more bad than good officers out there. As for this specific case, I promise you that there a lot of cops who get away with a ton of crap.

Please don't let this turn into a 'bash all 'cops' thread due to actions of just a few or one .
I know , see and shoot with many often and all of the ones are great folks . Sure there are bad seeds in every apple but again as was the above inference from the Muslim thread not all are bad and the evil minority seems to have tainted the good majority .

we currently have a retired police officer localy that hit a motorcyclest DRUNK and on a suspended liscense.....and the bike rider died yesterday from the injurys after a month of in the hospital. sooooo i will be following the results of this local offence. :rulez:
