Cleaning tips & tricks?

I've never heard of Pledge being used on the bike either. But I had an issue with one of my garage doors last year & had to call out a handyman to help me out. After the door got fixed he used Pledge in the tracks where the rollers are to let the garage door up & down. He said it works really well as a lubricant. He told me you can use Pledge for a lot of things. Had no idea.

I use a waterless wash that I bought, cant remember the name on the can. Only thing I use and it goes on everything. Probably just a fancy version of Pledge at 3 times the cost. I like it because its a spray/rub on, haze and wipe off deal and it doesn't take much for the whole bike.

I used the pledge yesterday and it worked good. I like it better than washing them. I used the wd40 on the swingarm and wheels. Looks a lot better than when she came home from the dealer a few days ago.

I have had my 2008 for four years and never washed it with water either. I use WD40 for the wheels and chainguard. For everything else I use this: http://ace.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pACE3-6954816dt.jpg It's great stuff and a single large bottle will last a year. I don't like Pledge at all. The hot Texas sun must melt it off I think, because the bike looks great with Pledge when I first use it, but after a couple of hours parked outside the finish dulls.

Does everyone apply the Pledge to a cloth first, or spray directly onto the bike?

As for cleaning tricks, only thing I can contribute is that I use a leaf blower to get most of the water off before trying with a towel.

I hose wash it once a month with automobile car wash detergent and then I hit the entire bike with Nanowax. This is important since water will be able to get to places and clean like your fingers can’t.

After every ride I’ll hit it with pledge. This is very important since it will prevent bug splatter and other chemicals from hardening on the plastic.

For most of the bike I use Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish and follow that up with Meguiar's Quick Detailer to give it a slick wax and deep gloss.

For the wheels/swingarm, Stoner Tarminator wipes the grease right off and I follow it up with the Honda Cleaner.

I like my system and I think my bike shines well, but I think I'll give Pledge a shot for fun.

I wash my 08 with water and car wash soap. I clean the wheels with any type of degreaser...Mean green, power purple, awesome etc...

I normally lube my chain a couple of days before I wash it. This way any oil throw off on the wheels etc can be easily cleaned. I try to get as less water on the chain as possible when I do wash. After I dry her off, I ride her a few miles to blow off any excess water. One last dry off and she is good to go

I pledge or wax her up for a good shine and to help with bugs. I just believe when it comes to cleaning. Water and soap when properly used can’t be beat.
