Clutch master cylinder for softer pull?

I fitted the RCS16 it’s much lighter with nice feel. Problem now is that I have to pull the lever all the way in touching bar grip to disengage the clutch. Not sure if there’s anyway around this?
I also have found the same with my RCS16 fitted to Busa . I got heavier clutch springs and the Brocks center ring fitted up , otherwise stock . I have to run mine with the lever span out the farthest . I have been told , that the RCS16 is actually a 15 , and the RCS17 is closer to being a true 16 . Confusing , yes , but I feel like trying a RCS17 one of these days , even tho my clutch is good as setup now .
Of note , my Zed 14 had a 19mm standard clutch master , (as this thread started off mentioning ) . I had fitted Brocks real street HD springs etc. , and the pull became immence to activate . I then fitted a RCS19 Brembo clutch master , to use the ratio options , and found it was not much better , ended up I got the RCS17 and it is very good now .

Thankyou for this info sounds as though your having the same experience. I didn’t realise a RCS16 bore is actually smaller than 16mm! Only Brembo would do that!! I’ve been weighing up an RCS17 myself and think this is the way to go. Quite frustrating as I bought the RCS16 in response to general consensus on this forum saying RCS16 is the one to go for. Having fitted one I now feel it is NOT the correct size. Lever travel although being very light is far to great to allow a quick jab of the lever through gear changes. (I’ve stated this here for future members intending to fit a Brembo RCS16 lever). Any idea what the standard master cylinder bore size measures? I’ve got mine in a box somewhere maybe it’s time to strip it down and see, then go from there. My gut feeling is in agreement with you at this stage RCS17 is probably the way to go

Hi Craig , I believe the clutch stocker is 1/2 , I got mine somewhere too . I also at first , about 4 years ago , ran the stock line with the fren tubo banjo angle adjuster thing , only just changed to a full braided line for clutch , because had to extend my lines to suit the new clipon setup .
Where you buying yours , I get all my Brembo stuff from Carpimoto , no vat for AU , and 25 Euro post in a week or less to door .

I bought my bra

Ibought my braided lines from Venhill Venhill | Control Cables and Braided Brake Lines for Motorcycles, Quad Bikes, Cars & Karts
Similar to you I’ve changed the clipons and so needed to alter line lengths. Can’t rate this company and their products enough, product knowledge and advice is first class. My Brembo lever came from WRS-Evotech on eBay genuine lever imported to UK from Italy (about £30 cheaper than buying here).
there’s a lot of time and effort going into this clutch lever thing. If it’s not broke just leave it rule applies here, the original Busa master cylinder works just fine. Simply swap its lever to match the Brembo brake lever :banghead:…. But then where’s the fun in that

I have put RCS16's on at least a dozen bikes and never had a problem, Have you moves the adjuster between 16 and 18?
Hmmm

I have put RCS16's on at least a dozen bikes and never had a problem, Have you moves the adjuster between I can feel change in force required to pull the lever and slightly less travel required to disengage clutch. Basically if I squeeze the lever all the way into the bar grip the clutch bites when releasing only 20mm

  • 16RCS the right choice in 99% of the applications. For motorcycle which stock clutch master cylinder piston diameter is 14 or 15 mm.
  • 17RCS is the 16RCS alternative, fits motorcycle which stock clutch master cylinder piston diameter is 16 mm, matches 17RCS brake, also can be used combined with an oversize clutch slave cylinder, or with a slipper clutch (under a mechanic supervision).
  • 14RCS the right choice for motorcycle which stock clutch master cylinder piston diameter is 11, 12 or 13 mm, for example Ducati Monster.
  • 19RCS do not install without the supervision of a mechanic, if used on a standard motorcycle, lever will become very hard and difficult to move, this master cyclinder shall be only used with slipper clutches or for applications requiring such a big piston diameter.
Question:
Is this clutch master cylinder the correct size for use on a 2011 Suzuki Hayabusa ? Very conflicting reviews on which is the correct size, the Hayabusa has a 5/8" master cylinder bore

Answer:
5/8 = 16mm, You should use 17RCS because 16RCS is not a real 16mm diameter master cylinder (is 15mm).

Are the springs making it much easier to pull. Others seem to have tried a ZX1400 MC and found it to heavy?
The zx14 master cylinder is 19mm , it was fine on the Kawasaki , really good , till I put the real street clutch kit with its heavy duty springs . The RCS19 might have been fine with normal Kawasaki setup . When I bought the RCS19 , I was warned by the Carpimoto fellas , but got it anyway . It was still heavy , like too heavy , so I bought the RCS17 , the one Carpimoto recommended originally . The ZX14 slave cyclinder is bigger diameter than the Busa , do not know exact dimensions .
My RCS16 works well enough with my particular Busa setup , it starts to bite just past half lever open onto fully open , and fully closes , then no creep with lever pulled fully in . The lever span is wound fully out to max span , if not it can start to creep .
I still think the RCS17 might be okay , as the Carpimoto conversation and page info I posted earlier .
Maybe even the Corsa Corta RCS16 clutch .... which I like to pair with a Corsa Corta RCS17 brake master for Busa , the brake master I currently run on the ZX14R .

That larger ZX slave cylinder will soften the feel sightly but will require more movement and lever end to push the fluid along. Im going to measure the Busa gen2 master cylinder diameter over the weekend and take it from there. Should also strip down the RCS16 and measure the 'exact' bore size to see if its closer too 15mm. Wonder what a RCS19 would be like on a gen 2 with a gen1 (pre2003) slave cylinder would be like, its larger diameter than the later models so requires less force to push but greater movement with a small diameter master cylinder, maybe the RCS19 would make it feel lighter. What a can of worms!
I pinched this from elsewhere:
Smaller bore increases pressure/reduces volume/increases lever travel.

Larger bore decreases pressure/increases volume/reduces lever travel.
