it is now time for a new clutch. i am planning on doing the work myself but i have a few questions.

1) what kind of problems can i expect from doing the clutch.

2) do i stick with OEM clutch or should i upgrade?

3) is there anything else i should know before tackling this job?

I'd stick with OEM.... they are really good and you won't have to worry about it fitting or the performance of it.

make sure the stack height is correct

Stock clutch is fine, just remember to let it seat before abusing it.....
50-100 miles of easy riding before you start slipping it hard.

remember to but the fibers in oil about a half hour before you install them and the oem is the best in my opinon
