I use it for up and down if I am just riding normally. Always for downshifting and 99% of the time for the 1 -> 2 shift. The rest of the upshifting under hard acceleration is done clutchless, just a blip of the throttle to unload the transmission.

I use it to get the bike moving and then when down shifting. I don't use it for going up through the gears. Get the RPMs up, let off the throttle just for a quick sec, shift up, and throttle on. Shifts like an automatic. Have a little over 15K (15298 as of this morning) and the tranny is just fine according to the mechanic that works on "My Baby" all the time.

umm yeah...........see bikes have a clutch for a reason, you're supposed to use it

redkat - are you in Erie PA? I am riding down there in July to visit my cousin and her new baby.
When does the weather start going bad?

What bike do you ride? Perhaps we can have a small "meet n ride" when I get there.

Cheers!

I use it all the time. Dunno, It just doesn't feel right to do it any other way. I even fret whenhit a false nuteral between 5th and 6th, only to hear that "crackity crackity clunk" when it goes into gear. Bah! I'm getting shivers just thinking about it!
