Anyone tried clutchless upshifting?

I was reading about it in the latest Sport Rider and also some guys at work have been really talking it up and enjoying the benefits of the smoothness. Any downsides to it?

Thanks,
Spike

I do it all the time. I never noticed any downsides unless you screw up the shift. Shoot, i sometimes clutchless downshift (MUCH harder to do)

Yes...no problems...unless ya miss a shift

Friend of mine does that almost always. The only times he doesn't is when he's got a passenger, "and special situations."

All the time, except first to second I help out with a one-finger blip on the clutch- with the farther throw seems to be the gear most likely to eat if careless.

Key is to preload the shifter with pressure, when you roll off the throttle about 1/4 inch it just leaps into next gear. With practice it gets to just be a throttle blip and you're in the next gear!

Yeah, nice way to shift, actually.

Exactly!

My CBXs are 5 speeds so I find myself shfting the Busa from 5th to 6th quite frequently w/o the clutch.

I, for one, can say it is something that saved my hide. Speed shifting is something you NEED to know.

yeah, I do ups and downs both...down is bit stiffer...but, you will find the way...(with lil blip on gas will make it easier...)
