Of course, trump didn’t like him though.

"Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media," Trump said in a statement released Tuesday morning. "Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!"

What really gets me is while Powell was in Vietnam trying not to get shot, Trump was at Studio 54 "trying not to get an STD". By Trump's own admission: "The guys who went were losers."

Just because you support someone doesn't mean you necessarily agree with them 100%. But there should be disqualifying traits in who you pick as your leader, and that's what defines us as civilized people.

This has spilled over to another thread...I posted over there on this subject too and will repeat it here, If you look at General Powell in uniform, he was a man who has been there and done that, Ranger, Paratrooper, Combat Infantryman badge...

For someone who never even served to disrespect him over his grave is a person who has no place in society...HOPEFULLY those who are worshippers of Trump see him for what he is after this...

His conduct makes me sick....

None of that matters Trump said something about him. Orange man bad. It’s just sad, I don’t get it, is the obsession because of fear?
I'm not tracking?

Are you agreeing what Trump said was inappropriate and disrespectful towards a long serving soldier or what he said was OK and we are being oversensitive?

I’ll wish the man rests in peace. But that doesn’t mean I’m gonna forgive him for fabricating ‘facts’ to push us into an unneeded war that wound up causing the deaths of tens if not hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.
...but wars make money...which is Congress's job, to make money, for themselves and those that paid their way into office(right? Right)
Honorable military service ended up in pollitical 'service'.
I do think there are times that good and moral people in these positions found themselves with their hands tied, thanks to the shady majority they have to work with.

No it’s sad that this person has passed and only thing to be said about him is what Trump said. His entire life boils down to a Trump comment not anything he has done his entire life.
If ya want to talk about stupid poop Trump has said start a thread for that. It might be the longest running thread.

He had lots of help getting the US into Iraq, it wasn't a one man deal to go there....

I still believe it was a platform to test out weapons systems...many of which had not seen combat.

That is true. Was the first time we used laser guided munitions and lots of other untested stuff. Perfect opp to make sure they worked. But his testimony to the UN and others was really the impetus that spurred the world on.
Real reason for silencing Saddam was he was tired of the sanctions, no fly zones and that we turned on him so quickly. He was our best friend during the Iran/Iraq war and then he wasn’t. His plan for retribution was to abandon the petro-dollar and begin trading his oil thru the EU in Euro-dollars, a plan that would have spurred others to follow suit which would have bankrupted our economy. Many people don’t realize that every single barrel of oil bought, sold or traded in the world no matter the origin is done with the US dollar. Even Iran now to this day sells its oil on the market for dollars. It is the only stable worldwide currency. Saddam would have been the first to break long standing tradition and go against the grain. There was no alternative but to take him out and prevent that from happening. The protection of the petro-dollar was paramount.

Yes and similarly AFAIK Muamar Ghaddafi wanted to create a gold denar currency for the context of Africa.THEY didn't like that either.

same was done with Hiroshima and Nagasaki
the 2nd bomb need not have been dropped as Japan would have surrendered.
Nagasaki was a good test best for US Military
Effectively targeting civilians :(

all such images and photographs on incinerated children were censored by US Military from world until 1952
