Hi Folks -

Bought a brand new set of Corbin Beetle Bags from someone off the net. Don't know if he's a Hayabusa.oRg member or not, but a totally straight shooter who was a pleasure to deal with. He bought the bike used and the previous owner had the bags, but never installed them.

The bags are a bright red, brighter than cherry, with a tiny hint of pearlescence. I think they match the red on the 2005 model Busa. My scoot is a 2007 model in Maroon. It has some bright red accents on the front fairing that come close to these bags. I put some pics below holding up one bag like it was mounted on the bike.

Tell me what you think.

a) Install them as they are.
b) Paint them to match my bike.
c) Sell them to someone who already has a bike this color. :)
d) I hate saddlebags, period!
e) Other ideas?

- Thanks, AJ

Looks like the red for a '04 LE...I would paint them to match your bike

Because of the size of the bags they should be painted to match. If they were a small item, that color would work to accent the rest of the bike.

I'm thinking it would be about $200 to paint these. Sound about right? Am already way over my head on this bike, so that's why I'm thinking about just installing them for awhile and living with the color.

If you didn't vote in the poll earlier, please do so now. Thanks!!! - AJ

AJ, I say paint them the color of your bike or at least black where they will match more of the theme of your bike. I do believe the color of your bike would be best but I do like the red of the bags, don't know why, lol. As for hard bags first time I've ever had them on a bike but I do love them now. I ride year round and in them I always carry my rain gear, small compressor extra gloves and clothing. These bags are great and once you know how to pack them properly they do have more room than you would first think. I put about 20,000 miles on my bike a year and these bags and a tank bag have taken me on several 3,000 to 5,000 mile trips with room to spare....Rick

Looks great on your bike. I see you even have the little Corbin tail trunk!

The regular price of these Corbin bags is absurd, but they do look right on the bike and there is nothing else that lets you retain the full functionality. I've seen the Givi bags, but those won't let you carry a passenger. And compare the full up retail cost of a Hayabusa plus all the Corbin stuff to a new FJR1300, Honda ST, or a Concours 14 and the Hayabusa is still the winner. This is an amazing bike. :)

Forget us, what do you want ? Me, I would probably paint them, even thought they do look like they match the Kanji and I kinda like'em the way they are. But up close they might look like a mismatch. But anyway, what do we know, their not ours

I'd paint 'em to match. Might have the painter mask off a Kanji on each one, then they would really match your bike.

If they'd fit a Gen 2 I buy them from you in a heartbeat. They won't, so I also sat repaint them to match your bike. If you do decide not to paint them send me a PM. I might be able to work out something with you.
