Comfort questions

Thanks for all the ideas. Im sure I will get used to her but six is right. It does seem like it was made for someone with longer arms than legs lol. Gotta get to work thanks again.

How long have you been riding a busa? It does take a lil getting used to but alot of people use heli bars or the buell peg mod or adjustable rear sets.

hi voodoolord, me and the missus have just returned from doing a tour round europe, from england to france, switzerland, italy, austria, germany, ( plus a lap round the nurburgring 9mins 17s ), belgium, back in to france and then home (england) a total of 3200 miles and what i did to make the bike more comfortable was to fit some clamps and bars from a suzuki bandit 1200 which made the seating position more up right which took the weight off my wrists and arms. i bought the parts off ebay for £16.00 and used all the standard busa cables and hoses, i think it was a good mod with out making the busa look like a touring bike and cheap to do, hope this helps.

I have very long arms, for 6 feet tall, (but not longer than my legs). I'm fairly comfortable sitting all the way back on the seat and laying on the tank or tank-bag. I guess I'm lucky there. I've ordered Heli-bars that just raise up just 3/4 of an inch. I'm riding my second Busa, the first was an '07. I'm the type that rides a bike till it's all used up, so I have plenty of time to make the modifications I feel I need. The seat could be more comfortable, but it's not bad, and I can move around on it, so I don't sit in the same position all the time. My only problem is lack of legroom and my knees get stiff. I don't like highway pegs - this ain't a chopper. I'm going to look for a thicker or taller seat. I may take it to an auto upholstery shop and have some foam or padding installed to make it taller.

Do a search for "Buell Pegs" and hit Joe up about the kit. You can lower your pegs and give you more leg room.

Heli-bars not only raise the bars by .75", but the end of the bars are higher than their mounting point.
The bars don't have 2 90 degree bends, the top bend is more than 90(I'de have to measure, don't remeber exact angle).
The Heli-bars feel much better and taller than just having a .75" riser.:beerchug:

LSL topclamp and Speigler handlebars and brake/clutch lines. Very comfortable.
The winsheild only needed a small half circle cut out of it where the windsheild meets the fairing(to clear master cylinders).
I may go with a slightly different bend of bar, so I just trimmed the whole sides off . I have another winsheild for once I get things perfected.
Alot of people don't like the looks, but personally, it saves my back and wrists and is alot more comfortable.
I can still do everything with the bike that I did before too.

The bike is more comfortable every time I ride it. I was almost thinking I didnt need the Heli bars but their all ready paid for. Guess we'll see how they feel.

When I got my 06 ZX6R I used to put a lot of weight on the wrists (I too spent the bulk of my early years on dirt bikes). After a month or so, I learned to keep the weight off of my wrists by using my abs. Before I bought my 09 Busa, I sat on a few at a local stealership both with and without Heli bars. The Heli bars give a noticeable height difference, but not enough to make you forget you are on a sport bike. Luckily, the one I purchased came with them.

Enjoy!

I dont know if its that I got used to the stock bars after a 1200 mile ride but when I put the heli bars on they felt the same as stock. The bars are comfortable and look good and Im happy to have them. Need to get a better seat now.
