Concealed carry on your bike

Thank you for your service. I think standing outside waiting for backup just means it gives the bad guys longer to commit carnage. I think it puts your life in more danger, but any father would willingly do the same. None of that "sit quietly and nobody get's hurt" is ever gonna work again after United flight 93; First guy shows trouble and the entire planeload is coming down on him...

Want to ask you a question then: What does your training say about civilian CCW holders, in the heat of the battle, also helping? I suspect I know what the official response is, but would like to hear your take on it. I live in a small town, there are 3 police officers total only one on duty at a time; if someone hit our school he'd need all the help he could get. He'd have to shoot me to keep me from helping him.

I was a Cavalry Officer in the Army; we don't run, we ride to the sound of gunfire

Well let me start by thanking you for the kind words...
But to answer your question technically it would be illegal for an armed license civilian to help in a active shooter situation... Now remember thats technically speaking it be a court decision if you were acting in your rights as a licensed citizen or not... Honetly i couldnt see any jury finding a licensed civilian who saved lives guilty of anything. I dont see a DA even considering bringing charges on a hero like that they would probably receive such a public uproar!!

Personally speaking if it was just me standing there outside a school and there is hell breaking loose and you say you are licensed and have a firearm on you we are going in and saving those kids!!! Id consider the help a blessing i wouldnt give 2 craps about the law at that point the more guns there the better the chances of winning and saving lives are!!

Yea man at a time like that what is most important takes over written law any day in my mind!! Got to think of it as "what if it was your kids in there" at that point screw everything else you know.

Which brings us back to the original post... If you are a good person and able to carry in your state by all means do it you never know when your going to need to save the life of your family or your own!!

I carry everywhere i go even church, funerals, weddings you name it ill be armed:laugh: you just never know you can never be over prepared just underprepared!!!

Still trying to construct a device that will allow me to carry into swimming pools and the beach  jk.... Or am i?

A ziploc bag works at the beach or so I've heard

The answer I had hoped for. The book solution is that it's illegal, but faced with that particular sitution, it's 'lock and load', and scrw the consequences later.

It is a responsibility to be savy about carry. If you need to help out, do it, but don't get excited and shoot one of the good guys. Learn you weapon & if you are too excitable or panic prone prolly should leave it home.

Rio, that's a good question. A great revolver for "athletic use" (motorcycles, bicycles, hiking, atv's, snowmobiles, etc.) is an S&W .38 Airweight. The weapon is a 5 shot and, in a zip padded bag it fits next to two speedy loaders. 38 Plus P loads are perfect and the whole package is incredibly light.
With a short barrel, however, it's important to do much practice in accuracy, reloading (with speedys) and accessing the piece quickly.
Most people don't realize how potent a revolver (with a competent operator) actually is!

Yessir, I agree, and if I need to use it, I don't plan on being too far away (I am more of an "Assistance from a Distance" kinda shooter anyway). Life starts to get interesting at 500 yards...... I am VP of the local shooting club so I get a lot of practice anyway.

just read that article front and back. that is a really, really good article.

im going to be sending it to the company that I got my CCW from- I really wish I had read that when I got it, it would have been beneficial if anything had happened up to now.

I think I'm going to try to re-read that, just like the guy in the article said, to adjust myself to it and prepare. honestly, that's smart.

Thank you for the good read.

Very good read for sure!!! Also been thinking... Slinging the ar and going for a ride challenge.... Im thinking if bolt is removed... Im just transporting metal. Its innert so.... Just thinking... Yes still shock factor but are laws clear what defines innaproproate?

I don't know your local laws, but remember that the lower receiver is the main regulated part on that weapon. Anyone who does something like that, even if it's within their rights, is only asking for trouble. They would probably give the public a bad impression of gun owners and motorcyclists at the same time. Should you actually decide to do this, also plan on taking part in a high-risk traffic stop.

Wear your Hayabusa.org shirt so from the news helicopter we will be able to recognize you face down on the pavement

20 yrs ago on a FD medical call 2 scumbags jumped a Police officer, my partner and I jumped in with Halligan bars -a 20 lb door busting tool. 2 scumbags got their heads busted good.
We got charged and sued by the scumbags. City provided us a lawyer [$$$$]
The judge threw out the case and expressed thanks to us.
If your on your own YOU will pay for lawyer[$$$$]
You could be 101% right but it will cost you thousands.
And I would do it again tomorrow.
