Counter steering

my neighbor taught me this, it may be old news to some but it was new to me so I am telling others. basically when you go into a right hand turn you push forward slightly on the right handlebar, it sounds backwards but it really works, for a left hand turn just do the opposite, push forward on the left side, you only slightly push it forward. I tried itthis morning and what a difference it made, with more practice I shoud be scrapping pegs. my neighbor is a former 2 time superbike world champ, so as he teaches me more I will post it.

Yeah, it's old news but if you didn't know there might be some others as well. Pretty much counter stearing is the ONLY way to stear a bike and you have been doing it to some extent even if you didn't know you were.

It's the only way to really Take control of your bike. Folks will pile on all manner of Body English accessories, but mostly all they are doing is masking their countersteering.

I'll bite. Who lives next door thats a superbike world champ?

his name is Jeff Shorts, he has more trophys then I have of anything, I was walking to a neighbors house when I saw a garage full of trophys, so I went over and introduced myself. Super nice guy, even helped me build my Suzuki Z400 quad motor for me, we turned it into a 440, then he wouldn't even take any money, but I was able to force him to take some. He got his last championship on a Suzuki 750, but 2 years ago had a bad race accident and now his hip is all messed up. so now he works on buddies bikes, and when my Busa needs to be rebuilt he is going to do it.
