daughter in hospital...

My 45 day old little girl is in the hospital, my wife brought her last night and she had a 102 fever.  They admitted her, did a spinal tap, put her on IV and meds.  Diagnosed w/ RSV, some lunge virus.  She hasn't been able to keep milk down, been sleeping all day, hasn't moved much.  They called in our family doc late last night and have been in here checking on her periodically.  I just replaced my wife here because our other daughter has a cold and don't want to make things worse.  I'll be here all day until she comes back.

Anybody ever had a child sick with RSV?

I'm not religious and this may sound hypocritical...but any prayers would be appreciated.  I may be overracting, but she's my little girl...

Calm down a little bit bro. RSV is pretty common in infants. My son had it when he was younger. Prayers sent for you and your daughter. It's harder on us than it is on the kids sometimes.

My boy was hospitalized for 3 days w/ croup just a few months ago. I was pretty scared till I talked to flfiremedic. He calmed me down pretty quick.

BTW, Gatorade is your friend. Stay away from milk, it just makes congestion worse.

thanks...I don't like hospitals, especially when I have to stay overnight. its even worse for my kids, because I can't do anything about it. I was more worried about her fever, which they still haven't been able to stablize.

She's 45 days old...of course I'm gonna wig out until she is home safe.

prayers sent. beautiful girl. I was blessed that niether of my kids had anything other than the basic ear infections and colds, but that was enough to keep me wound up, esp w/ my daughter which was my first. infants run hotter than adults... 102 is high, but still safe, I was always told by the doc that they can run up to 105. pediasure, or similar, is good to help keep her from getting dehydrated. check w/ dr. ... might have to dilute it first. good luck & god bless

Completely understandable. I was worried sick about my boy. What makes it worse is that they cant talk and tell ya what's going on. They dont understand what you are saying. Makes ya feel helpless. My thoughts and prayers are definately with you. Know exactly what you are going thru

The doc told us that as long as my boys' temp didn't stay over 104 then we have nothing to really worry about.

And yeah, you want to dilute gatorade if you give it to her. We did half water and half gatorade. Gatorade has all of the electrolytes that pediasure does but tastes better
