Detailing and learning - Successes and mishaps

I never used a buffing wheel but I'll bet that would save hours. I don't think I'd use it regularly on a vehicle but for this, it might be just what you need.

I’m curious to know how you managed this,

“sprayed myself and my previous bike with gasoline accidentally once at the fuel station”
That was fun. I was really, super careful with the hose, I did put the bike on center stand. Beautiful matt olive paint, so you want to avoid even one small drop of spill. It was a smaller capacity fuel tank so I tried to fill it up fully, which I succeed, but - here comes the fun - at the very end, when you are out of the inner hole which fits the pipe to avoid wrong fuel usage due to sizing, just somehow as I was turning the pipe right and up I accidentally gave it a tiny bit of a grab, but somehow it reacted wild. It was still facing down and a bit left so it went with full power to the tank still and from that all over me due to the pressure and the bike's engine, saddle and of course on the paint... I ran in the shop, brought out a big bottle of mineral water and poured over the bike, and what left all over me. It helped the bike, it didn't help me. Full motorcycle gear wash later that day. Only after a full bike detailing of course.

The water bath was smart as it diluted the fuel. You should see the pump handles in California! Huge and they weigh five pounds or more and takes two hands. It’s a pleasure to fuel up out of state when I tour.

I used to help out with the buffing wheel at the body shop. They called me "Bernie."

I have replaced the OEM. Thanks @MonkeyButtRides for the video on Youtube it gave me the confidence boost to do it quickly rather to reading the service manual. ;)

I'm always amazed that most people have little awareness of the twist in a line or rope or gas hose. Got to have that awareness first, then you can coil (or fuel) without issue. Makes your life easier.

My go to recommendation for bike fueling is the McCuff. I sit on the bike and balance it level, and this doohickey just makes it work effortlessly and spill free. I love it and have been using it for decades. (I keep it wrapped in paper towels in my tank bag. It will get dirty over time).
