DiabloBusa went down

Whatever you decide to buy the main thing is you keep riding
and keep your spirits up. I am sure you will have fun shopping for another bike too...hey the 06' Busas should be showing up next spring if you decide to go that route.

I hope you have a speedy recovery this year and if there is anything at all you need you have my email and phone number.

We should at least get together for some dinner some time.

Take it easy Doug, keep in touch.

Sorry to hear what happened and very glad to see your well, alive. to bad about the bike but it's better that you, anyway to bad i never got to ride with you i was looking foward to it, well i guess i will catch you next year on a new pony. and speedy recovery.

My local shop picked up the bike today. The mechanic noticed that the chain was way too tight. I had it adjusted to spec on Saturday, before the ride, so they think the frame or swing arm are bent.

I'm waiting for the insurance peeps to check it out and confirm the damage.

nevermind

I'm having second thoughts about the frame sliders I put on now, did they do anything for you?
If anyone on a sportbike doubts the benefit of sliders, look closely at the pic of the right side of my bike.

How do you think it would've faired without them?

That should remove any doubt!
Funny, I was just thinking the exact opposite...  Looks to me like they didn't do a damn thing...  Except prolly bend and crack the fairing where they were mounted, maybe tweeking the mounts in the frame in the process...

My .02...

Damn sorry to hear the Busa is being totalled.  That sucks.   How did the Mrs. take the news?
The right side lower was ground down quite a bit, but structurally it looked good. The clutch housing and foot controls didn't take a scratch. The fairing didn't even crack at the slider hole.

The shop still hasn't taken it apart yet, so I'm still waiting on the verdict.

The Mrs. was upset about it, but now she's saying she feels much better that I'm not riding the beast!

She's not against me riding motorcycles, just sportbikes!

I know she'd be happy if they total it.

Time will tell.

It's official! Diablobusa is totaled! The swingarm is bent slightly, too. Now I just need to wait for the insurance peeps to call me back.

Hey - so sorry to hear about your crash. Glad you're not banged up worse, however, I'm sure you're not feeling really wonderful!!! Take it easy and get well quick!!! I just got home late last night from a 10 day trip but heard about it last Monday from MJN who got a PM from BV. News travels fast!

I got a call from insurance today. The Busa is totaled (I aready new that), and I will get the figures tomorrow.

Bad news (already posted):
Meantime, I'm reduced to 1 arm (my left, and I'm a righty) to do basically everything with for about 1 more week. Pain is a wonderful reminder to keep me from using my right. I have a seperated shoulder (AC CC grade III in medical terms). I'll find out if I'll need surgery next week. I also re-ruptured my L4-5 disc.

Really bad news:
Wifey says "No more sportbikes!", and I'll be off motorbikes for the rest of the year.

Good news:
She'll let me get an insanely fast chopper!

I've been looking at tourbikes, and the wifey looked at a Thunder Mountain Custom, and said I should get on for my solo bike!

Really good news:
So next year I'll have 2 new bikes. 1 HD Ultra Classic, and 1 chopper style (yet undetermined), so I have much to look forward while I'm healing.

Geez dude. I'm feelin' for you man.

Looking at that makes me think twice about screaming around the back roads. We all say that, though, don't we.

I hope your shoulder heals up okay, bro. I suffered a second degree A/C separation of my right shoulder in 1994 when I highsided my old yamaha. That was probably the worst pain I have ever felt from then till now. From my experience with a surgeon that I trusted implicitly (he operated on my dad after he lost most of his left hand in a mechanical accident at Fabco), I didn't need surgery. He told me that he could do surgery, but he didn't think I would need it. A third degree separation will require surgery no matter what you do. My ligament separated from my collar bone by...3mm if I recall correctly...that was the cusp of how far the ligament can separate before surgery is absolutely necessary, he told me; but, of course, that was 11 years ago. I'm glad that he didn't cut me open, though. I get sore every once in a while and my joint still pops and cracks, but I didn't need my collar bone pinned into place, nor did I need the outpatient surgery where they shave the orbit of the joint to accomodate the extra movement of the collar bone due to the ligament being separated from your bone, which allows your collar bone stick up in the joint and rotate in a wider radius, grinding on the joint. You'll develop arthritis no matter what with the trauma to your joint...at least that's what I was told.

Boy, bro, I hope you heal up okay. BTW, without surgery, but with a few months of physical therapy, to completely heal to the point that I could box again with almost no pain in my shoulder took almost a year. I was also in supreme physical shape at that point in my life. With surgery it could have taken longer due to the tissue and muscular trauma of being operated on. I don't want to bring you down, but this could be kind of a long road for you. I went through it, though. If you have any questions at all, just PM me.

I'm looking at one of the pics that clearly shows a mushed frame slider on the right side. But then it looks like there is a scratched area all around it.  Am I just seeing a reflection or something? Oh, yeah, sorry about the crash (forgot and added the edit). Don't be shy about surgery, at your age (looking at your avatar), you'll heal quick. Besides, you get good pain meds
