DMV fees for annual registration renewal

WhaddyUguys pay? I was gathering my tax info for 2024. In California this is what I paid just for that lil sticker;

2015 Lexus———-$317
2018 Kawasaki——$179
2006 Hayabusa—-$172
1982 Honda ——--$177

That’s right, $177 for a 43 year old motorcycle, $5 more than a 19 year old. WTH?

$845 total plus insurance for three bikes and a car.

Gettin kind of expensive….and I want to buy an expensive dog? :confused: :)

So how much does your state charge?

$57 for my 2023 Busa
$107 a year for insurance on the 23 Busa and 2008 B-King

Was cheaper before the folks starting piling in here from California...

Oh tell us, the influx of residents specifically from California has caused your registration fees to increase?
 
I just renewed all of mine in December here in Florida but here is a copy of fees paid before I got rid of the concours14 and got a the new busa. the 2018 DR650, 2016 concours, 2009 busa, 2001 Isuzu trooper, 2013 accord and my 2021 Tacoma:

Those are crazy cheap registration fees. Does FL have an annual vehicle tax?

When I lived in VA in the late 90's, registration was super cheap, compared to here in CO (I don't remember the actual value, long time ago...) but there was an annual vehicle tax. The incoming governor ran on abolishing the annual vehicle tax and he did, but then car registration when up and all that really happened was the vehicle tax moved to vehicle registration fees. In terms of total vehicle ownership cost, nothing changed.
 
It’s certainly a ripoff here and some other places. It’s one thing for the state to demand proof of a piece of our personal property, I mean they don’t care what make and model my fridge or dishwasher is. And by simply buying gas we’re paying for our road use taxes so why do they make a profit on our vehicle registrations? Any small admin fee would suffice for their books as evidenced by what other states charge.

No tax. That’s all I have to give the government for my vehicles, nothing else.

I agree!! At one point I had 3 bikes in the garage but I wasn’t concerned about high registration fees. I would be pissed if I had to pay what some have posted here.

I sure will never complain again about the $200 some dollars bill I get as a birthday present ever again. Talking about that, do yours also expire on your birthday month or do you guys all renew on a specific time of the year?
