Does anyone stick to a gym workout schedule?

This is my routine that I live by. Its pretty much for me to maintain where I am at. I am 6'2, 255 lbs at 10% BF. When im feeling good or when I want check myself I push 315 8x - 3 sets. Im not trying to be a body builder just stay in shape and ready for whatever life might throw at me. You never know. I also do alot of core training which is not on the workout sheet but I usually knock those out in between excersises where I see fit. I change it up from time to time to shock the muscles but this is my base workout.

Very intense B-dub! I gotta run out of the house to work right now but wanted to take the commonly used word "cardio" apart and further disect it....it is just a "gateway" word to a whole other world! I'll bring it up later in a different post. Doyle

During the summer I tend to go with the Strong man regimen of pulling/pushing a truck or car, pulling/dragging a weight sled, carry sand bags up and down hills, tire flipping etc. I try to get a few other people to work out with me but that doesn't always happen (too much fishin' to be done...) but in the winter, the gym is it and the gym here is archaic at best but ya just make do with what ya have.

5 to 6 days a week all free weights no cardio right now. I really enjoy chest and shoulder work the best. I did bench 405 last week for 1 rep and 365 for 4, which sounds good but I ve been lifting since I was 18 so its no big deal. I do a local hike of called 1000 Steps after work a couple times a week during daylight savings time. It really helps me knock the "winter coat" of fat off. But cardio kills my power in the gym and I hate that.

Always do your cardio after resistance training!!

Gym 4 days a week and push 190 kg =418lbs bench 8 reps.

Couple questions:

1) Are your weights there in South Africa only made in KG's? That would be cool to have those here, way easier math!!

2) How much do you squat?

3) How much do you deadlift?

You know, we can talk about types of workouts, which exercises, weight vrs reps, the world of cardio and how it interfaces with resistance....but, the backbone of training must be grounded in, "what is my overall objective?"
Flexibility (ie Yoga), strength (ie freeweights), endurance (ie treadmill), balance/defense (ie martial arts)....I know, a stupid short list but the general idea is, how do you want to come out at the other end? Where do you intend all this "investment" to lead you?
Of course, I want it all but what do I want most? For me, I want to do what I do for hours and hours, that's why my PRIMARY source of training is bicycling (for example, last Wednesday I rode 108 miles in 5 hours at "full throttle"avg speed 20.8mph). I am going to ride across a good portion of Wyoming and Colorado this June so having that objective inspires me to train hard leading up to the event. If I didn't have a looming future distance event in my head, I don't know if I'd train that hard.
Just some thoughts I wanted to throw out. Raydog

I do zumba, been doing it for over a year now. We use to have a zumba toning class but she dropped it because to many wimps wouldn't show up....I really miss that class.

It's true, the more intense and effortful (word?), the smaller the population!

Its a life style, Its a life chose,
Set a goal and go for it,, mine is to die healthy, ha,
I hear the whispers, look at that old man,
37 year gym rat
