Happy face is a colon with right parenthesis and frown is a colon with left parenthesis.
No spaces between the two characters. Just try it out in a post.

Just a heads up for those who might want to switch the stock Busa grips for something softer, stickier, bumpier, sexier or more colorful.

Don't do it.

I bought new grippier grips, then slit my stock throttle grip to replace it. But it's impossible. The plastic slider inside the grip will not accept any grip except the stock one.

If you make the same mistake I did, you'll be forced to buy the whole grip and slider assembly for (in Canada) $30. You can't buy the grip only.

Pete, i know how you feel, well almost, my gixxer 750 is the same way.I have the red/black/silver one, went and got some red hand grips and i was going to install them.I looked at the throttle grip first and found out it couldn't be done.So i gave them to a friend with a honda.Sorry to hear you had to get a new stock grip.

Sabor,

Your info on compressed air to remove grips is exactly what the dealer service dept told me. I'm expectin' they will slide my pro grips on during a service as a courtesy. Also, thanks for heads up on magic marker use.

NEVER ACCEPT NO

Guess that rules out those pretty pink grips I saw somewhere the other day?! :)

Wonder if the slip on/over soft covers that D Kirk sells wouldn't work? Not sure if those are any good but they are inexpensive and retain the stock grip.

Todd: Who are D Kirk? I'd like to check those grip covers out.

I'm into having a really colorfully detailed cockpit to contrast with all the monochromatic black and gray. Gives me something interesting to look at while I'm ripping along at 100 mph on a boring highway.

More importantly, how you do put those little yellow smiley/frowny faces into your posts?

D Kirk = Dennis Kirk, a HUGE motorcycle accessory warehouse. Here's their URL:
http://www.denniskirkinc.com/ where you can also request a large, FREE catalog.
Smiles and frowns likes this :) :( are created the same way you would in an email message using the colon and parenthesis.

Forgive my ignorance Todd but what exactly do you do with the colon and parentheses to get those faces?

Thanks for the KIRK URL. I'll get the catalogue.

I put on a set of Pro Grip grips on my busa and they work fine! I like the feel and the fit is almost perfect.

I say almost perfect because the throt. grip is not made for that inner lip the busa has so there is about 1/8" space in there but I took a magic marker colored the white plastic black and you can't even tell! By the way you can take your grips off without cutting them. Just use a air compressor, shoot some air between grip and bar and blam!
I had some glue in there but they still came right off!

This is the face of a Kawasaki ZX12 wannabe owner of the bike they might get by next summer :(

And this is the face of a Happy Hayabusa owner now who has a real bike to ride :)

Too bad you can't change the sad face to Green :(

I also put the pro grips on .The only thing I did to get the grips to fit was to slice the grip with a razor along the stops circumferance to get it to fit over the ridge on the throttle tube.It took a little while but I really like the grips.

My dealer happened to have these on their sales floor, I'm not sure if Pro Grip has a web site. I will go looking..
