Double Bubble Results?

Sounds to me like your helmet might not be the right size, or simply not a very good quality helmet. You might, if you're not ready to upgrade your helmet, try one of those stretching cloth things that attatch to the bottom of your helmet, and then velcro shut, keeping out most of the excessive wind noise. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the thing, maybe someone will jump in here with the name of the product. If your helmet is at all loose, which it doesn't sound to me to be the case, since you mentioned sore ears, that alone could be the problem. A helmet should fit rather tightly when it is new, then it should loosen as the padding settles in and fits itself to your head.
Either way good luck keeping the noise down, I had a similar problem with my old helmet, it was a little too big.
As for the other problems, try sitting back off the tank a bit(to protect your manhood), and you can use your high idle lever as a makeshift cruise control for a short period.

The zero Gravity screen is a starting point for any Hayabusa Mods, as it will reward you the most for the least amount of money spent.

Production may have started so the best move may be to contact Zero Gravity and check to see if they are shipping Hayabusa products.

I should have a riding impression of the Sport Touring screen next to offer some feedback of the comparison of the Double Bubble screen.

Thanks for the helmet tips. The helmet does fit right, so far as I can tell, not constricting, but not loose either. Any trip over 40 miles though typically gets the right ear to start hurting. I have been wondering if my head is just an odd shape.

I had called Zero Gravity yesterday, and found they are shipping. It'd cost just over 80 dollars to get it sent to here or San Diego, with it shipping in one to two weeks. Apparently, their shipments are picked up each Friday, if I understood the person on the phone correctly. I think the only real user so far is you Kawabuser, so I'll go on your word. :) I'll put the order in tomorrow.

Duc, I've seen the term Genmar before, but really didn't pay attention . . . I'd search the site, but my only access to the web at the moment is at work, so I have to keep my forays short. Does anyone have a short description of Genmar for this thread?

Ordered one day before yesterday, any additional wind protection will be a good thing. I'm sure that the quality will be just fine with the product, zero-boys make good stuff.

On the helmet thing, if it does not fit correctly, it can sure be a real pain.

Thanks Ducmanic! Now I have a clear picture. That does look like something worth investigating. I'll check into cost and delivery information tomorrow for that too.

Any extra tools needed? I'm currently in possession of the cycle's stock set only. I'll be able to get my hands on my tools this weekend when I drive back down (car this time, hehe) to pick up other items).

Two weeks ago I pulled a 500 mile drive up to Roseville (just north of Sacramento) from San Diego. It's about 500 miles (I-15 to 78 to I-5 to 99 to I-80), and I gotta say, that is a bit much on this bike.

I'm seriously looking into the double bubble (not quite sure about the touring version for general use), and wanted to see how many people can actually give feedback on its effects before spending the money. I have read Kawabuser's initial report with his test version, and that certainly puts it in a good light. I know a lot of people upgrade like crazy, but the extra expenditures are something I have to be careful with (must be strategically planned).

I'm going to be in the Sacramento area for three more weeks. If I order this accessory, it'll be to have it shipped here so I can hopefully reap some benefits on the 500 mile ride back home. The ship time looks doable, if I order it soon.

As an aside, the results on the body after 500 miles is:

Right wrist hurt since you can't move it around like the other hand.
The family jewels were 'under the weather' for a couple of days, ouch ouch.
Earplugs all the way, but externally, both ears hurt.

I have to give kudos to the seat. Despite the factor mentioned above, the seat was quite comfortable for the whole adventure.

I'm enjoying the bike during the five week business trip while my wife gets the rental, and despite the side effects, I am looking forward to the long haul back.

Just went for a ride and tried the fast idle but it would only do about 2200 rpms or a little over 40 mph.
.02

Seem to remember that according to the shop manual its cable should be adjusted to allow 3500 rpm when fully out!?!

I put the order in on a smoked double bubble. I should have it on the bike before the trip back down. I'll let everyone know about the difference I note for long distances.

Looks like a GenMar is out of the picture for me for now, but we'll see a bit later.

I think I'll be testing out the idle adjustment idea that RPM mentioned tho. That can definitely come in handy as the miles click off.

I ordered the sport tourer, the pic looked OK if it screws up the high speed aerodynamic stability I'll swap it out.

RPM,

We can actually use the fast idle as a cruise? Just how well does it work, etc?
Wish I knew that last weekend.

Thanks.

Again, this may not be a method that Suzuki would recommend, but you can definitely use this as a short term "cruise control" device to stretch your wrist muscles a little. It's simple. First of all, don't stop paying attention to where your going or what your doing. Your still moving. It's usually best to be in the highest rideable gear for the current speed limit or situation, then just roll on the high idle lever until it's running the engine at the necessary speed for it to cruise along. Just don't forget about it cause it gets a little weird trying to slow down heading into a corner and what not. Just use some common sense. Ride safe and hopefully a little more comfortably. RPM
