Well i went to gateway last night to take the drag racing class and the subject tonight was 60' times. But we spent the whole time staging which is where your 60s and quater mile times are made. i had no idea that when you stage you just want the stage light to flicker on i was always rolling and when it came on i stopped. You really get an appreciation of how much rolling start your missing my stanging wrong. Anyway so the class had 3 bikes and about 40 cars all staging and launching. just 60ft.
So it starts to get late about 11 and were still out there launching and im thinking to myself shid he hasnt said anyting about launching this big fuk im sitting on. So i go and ask the guy hey how should i launch and he says dump it and pin it. Then i explain to him what happend last time and he says ohh that was you and im like yeah so he says well find someone that launches bikes to help you. Keep in mind prostar is this week. So walks up to his buddy and tells him i need help and see if he can find someone still woke to help me out so the guy leaves and two mins later comes back followed by another guy on a scooter.
The guy introduces him self as Larry McBride...and im like damn where the hell have i heard that name before...ohh shid your spider man. He says yeah what can i help you with. I proceed to explain my situation and he starts tellin me how to hold the clutch and slip it. Apparently he saw the blank look and my face so he says wheres your bike. I point and we walk over too it.
It got on it and showed me how to do the throttle and cltuch then he lauched a few not on the track right there in front of me about 15-20 feet with teh damn tire about an inch of the ground...guy has on fuggin penny loafers and shorts for christ sake. His directions were perefectly clear as to how to go about getting faster. Out of everything he said the most important was walk before you run...which i took as get the technique and then get faster. So i took what he said and tried it a couple of times. Bike felt way solid no jerking or anything just nice smooth lauches. Sure they were slow but i felt like i get give way more gas than i gave. i only went twice casue the track closed McBride is one of the most down to earth guys i met. he took time from working on his bike to help a brotha out.
Now i have someone to root for at prostar. Just thought id share my expierence holla
