I checked the current draw when it’s switched off and the draw is non-zero:with the best option (option 3), do you think the on/off switch will prevent battery drain when not in use? i am thinking to install one, but want to go with an option that does not drain the battery when the ignition is off.

This isn’t enough to be a cause of concern re: battery drain. When the switch is off there is no power to the USB ports which is important.
For some reason they have gone with a non-standard square SAE connector instead of round which is a tight fit if your SAE battery charging adapter is one of the weatherproof variety from Optima. Battery Tender isn’t an issue.
Anyway, with a voltage readout (which is accurate) and USB-A and USB-C ports this is a nice unit.
