Fall Bash 2008 Sept 26th-28th

That sounds good tome Bogus, actually kinda cheap to be honest I would go 15 or 20 per day myself considering you can eat alot in a day!

I was thinking the same thing Lycan....but as you can see from above I've been "kicked out" of the planning.

I guess I'll just make the dessert and share it with the girls.

actually the only change from what you suggested was the brat burgers... hooken has not touched base yet and he did not show up till I think Friday night, sort of leaves Thursday short an item..

The problem with the "wide" choices we had is that we did not have enough of any one thing.. (suppose that could be a good thing but a nightmare at the grill)

We will also likely be down to 2 grills and it takes most of 1 just to keep food hot (another reason to keep our menu cut down to 4 instead of 6 or 8 items..

We will let the people eating make the food choices prior to bash and that should help a lot..

Costs: Lycan I do see your point but buying like we are, it does save a few bucks and this is a "not for profit" thing anyway..

We really wanted to make available a "great" steak for Friday (small cost compared to the rest of the weekend) I am thinking the NY strip is our best option as we can 1. Buy it bulk 2. no bone to deal with (bone saw) and 3. least amount of waste except for Fillet Mignon. (I would go fillet but it is pretty high cost, smaller servings, gets dry past "medium" and does not hold well..

I just sold my busa last week because I wasn't back in a job yet.. but I got one yesterday, full time.. so count me in for coming and prepaying.. I should have another Busa by then

This was more of a response to John....cuz you know I have to dig into him once in a while.

I'm fine with whatever food choice is made.(didn't get a brat burger in the spring anyway, so I don't know what I'm missing)  Grumpy's burgers rock!  I could eat one every night.

Are we sticking with the wristband idea?

burgers.jpg

Not sure about wrist bands or just a ticket of some kind... personally I dislike wearing plastic bands.. a checklist or meal ticket might be a lot easier on everyone (well except us) The check list allows people to pay and forget about anything else..

Whole idea of the bash is to let it all hang out without headaches and really there are not that many people to deal with (less than 100)

Looks like a nice 16oz NY Strip is going to be the "upgrade" for Friday cookout for steak.. Steak eaters will still have access to the other meats but they will have a "special" steak waiting cooked to order.. anyone else getting hungry?

I have set up a seperate Pay Pal account for this and will make all records public... It will be easier to have money up front instead of wondering if we are gonna cover part, none or all of money spent. Collecting at the Bash will still happen but prepay donations for food will make life alot easier for those of us who footed the food bill the last few times. Is anyone from the board objecting to us doing this on our own before I post the Pay Pal addy and we start making lists... And everyone needs to remember that these are suggested costs, those who can will give more and those who can't can slide. This is a family event and nobody that goes is gonna go hungry!!!

Beverage fund should be $5 per person (seperate from food) or a case of something brought along to share...

Let me know

Will be about a week before I can get the "pre pay" stuff ready for prime time.. we can leave it open until 2 weeks before bash.. (our cutoff for purchasing)

further ideas and comments are most welcome

This spring was my first bash. Since I stayed at fontana village, I really didn't understand the extent of planning, work, and money some of you had invested to make the event a success. All I can say now is wow. I really appreciate all of your efforts! My personal opinion is that the menu should be kept simple, mainly because I hate to see you guys working so hard before, during, and after the event. I sure like the creativity though, and you all have already shown what you can do, so I'm going to just defer to your judgement, pay whatever is asked and enjoy. Thank you!!!

Now, let me get this off my chest.......

THANKS to all that are stepping up to the plate to help organize our rally. When Tom and Brian started this little gathering many years ago and even when I stepped in....I had no idea it would grow to something this large.

I checked my schedule and this will be a OFF CHEMO weekend! So Brenda and I will be there.

I have no problem setting up the photo shoot again if there is enuff interest.

Plus I know alot of folks were looking for some help with lines on da Hill, weather and LEO permitting I will be happy to try that again.

Again to all that have stepped up, THANKS again for taking this to anudder level.

I'm going to try and make it. I really want to see Mc Mustang before he deploys. Wonder if Omslaw made reservations at the Phillips or if anyone has room for me to crash? Guess I could stay in the busa hospital.

Hal, I have 2 couches... so far 99'Busa is on one and i will take the other if you need a bed to crash on.. (Mrs 99 may go as well, not sure but that might put both of us on couches)

Coming down homestretch on menu and signup page for everyone as well..

Thanks Randy. I'll have to check and see if I can get the time off of work and I'll let you know. I do have an air mattress and sleeping bag. Do you know if Mrs. 99 snores?

Angela - I'm very willing to help with the prep and actual cooking. I'll be riding 2-up w/ Dan but I'm sure it won't be the entire time. Since we have a cottage this time, the kitchen will come in handy if we want a few more "elaborate" dessert offerings. I make wicked snickerdoodles.

Snickerdoodles it is!

I just thought one or two desserts (finger foods) would be nice to have. I was just thinking of a recipe that Pampered Chef has....it's really good. Dave seemed to like it at my sister's house this 4th.

Thanks for the offer to help too. Cooking is much easier when the prep work is done ahead of time.

Hey Randy -- what about that chili cook-off?

Chili cook off.... we could probably do 2-4 teams? I think we actually have enough "real" cooks to pull off a great dinner like this.. Do it Saturday night along with leftovers? (leaves everyone to live with their own on Sunday for the ride home
rofl.gif
) If we could get a sponsor to put up some gift certificates or incentive?

anyone care to take on this project?
