I saw fight club on HBO this month, yea I know it came out in 1999. WOW, what a great movie!

Very refreshing entertainment in this Sissyfied, sanitized, politically correct,fashion/status concious society. It kinda went off the deepend(at the end) but you cant have everything. Agree? Disagree?

One of my favorite movies! I love Tyler Durden

You seriously just saw it for the first time? It's a helluva ride...

Good movie....knew that it was the same guy half way through the movie...split personalities!!!

I've only seen it once, but if I recall, I agreed with the premis. Been wanting to check it out again.

A lot of what we do in life, and our direction is COMPLETELY counter productive to who we should be... but, we grow up TRAINED to not be able to see that without a lot of self reverse-engineering

Fight Club is my favorite movie ever next to The Wizard of Oz. I was pretty motivated to do SOMETHING after I saw it. It's a very driving plot. Everyone should see it after puberty.

Anyone every read the scholarly article on the parallels between Fight Club and the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip? It was published in a couple of film journals and I've seen it in various places on the internet. It's a fascinating premise and a well thought out argument. I'll see if I can find it.

The only three times I tried to watch it, I fell asleep. Boring movie.

Calvin and Hobbes is awesome, though!

I could see a parallel similarity there... I'd like to see that.

It's kind of like the .org The first rule.. we don't talk about the .org

Been a Drum Beating fight club Fan since it came out...

Nothing like a little something to really put things into perspective a little bit.

Honestly a lot of the philosphy behind the film I agree with and work towards in my own way.

Especially the "things you own, end up owning you."

Especially Tylers Warning at the beginning of the film. How many of you know someone just like this...
<div class="iF-Passage"><div class="QUOTEHEAD">Quote:
<div class="QUOTE clearfix"><span class="quoteBegin"> </span>
Tyler Durden: Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned- Tyler.
And my Favorite, one we run into a lot, the toolbox with his fancy car, expensive watch, and Nice Freaking Khakis... Thinking He's accomplished something, or is SOMEBODY because of the chintzy crap he's slathered himself in. I see it a lot, it's part of why I am the ANTI-XXXXX guy.
<div class="iF-Passage"><div class="QUOTEHEAD">Quote:
<div class="QUOTE clearfix"><span class="quoteBegin"> </span>
Tyler Durden: You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fu$#&ng khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
Even though the film is satire, and not meant to be taken seriously there is so much accuracy to be had...

One More.
<div class="iF-Passage"><div class="QUOTEHEAD">Quote:
<div class="QUOTE clearfix"><span class="quoteBegin"> </span>
...I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shid we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.
he he... Good stuff.

Most frustrating things about films, books, social commentary of this nature is that the folks who need to hear it most, that would benefit from the message and maybe actually stop living a "lifestyle" and live a life... They'll never hear it. Or if they do hear it, they will be certain that it couldn't possibly apply to them.

So many out there are so dependent on the system, so well trained via religion, social norms, and convention that they really are not able to think for themselves, do their own thing, and move on. Hell it's part of why I ride.
